Vivian remained curled up on the couch, her heart pounding rapidly, anxiety building in her chest, pushing its way into her throat making her feel like she was going to vomit.
Johanna had long ago left the room and was talking on the phone with Dannye, but wouldn't give any details about what was happening. Elena stayed with her, trying to keep her distracted. She didn't know what was happening either but seemed to know more than Vivian.
It had been about 20 minutes of agonizing waiting. Waiting for something, anything to happen.
The only thoughts rushing through her mind were fears for her son and the only man whom she had ever loved. What had him so worried for her safety? What was going on? She thought they were safe but now she felt even more unsure.
Ever since meeting Erik, Vivian didn't know what the future holds and that scared her the most.
"So what are your plans for Erik's birthday?" Elena asked, trying her best to keep up a conversation about any topic.
Vivian furrowed her brow, "Birthday? When's his birthday? Oh my god, I'm such an idiot!" She bit her knuckle, feeling like a terrible wife for not even knowing her husband's birthday.
To be fair he did force me to marry him...
"Yeah?" Elena seemed both amused and confused, "It's the 13th. Actually Friday the 13th this year."
"Fuck!" Vivian cursed, shaking her head, "Great. I don't even know what to get him."
"I'm sure it won't be that hard to figure out." Elena laughed, "Just walk around naked."
"Oh, God!" She covered her face in embarrassment, while her sister-in-law just laughed hysterically at her humiliation.
Suddenly the front door swung open, letting the loud shattering thunder fill the house, shaking it, "Vivian!" Erik's call had her standing in a split seconding and rushing through the hallway into his awaiting arms. She hugged him close, digging her fingers into his scalp, trying to hold onto something.
He chuckled at her behavior, relief flooding through his veins, easing all his aching muscles which were strained in anxiety. She was safe.
"What the hell happened? What's going on?" She questioned, out of breath, wanting so desperately to kiss him, but needing answers first, "You scared me."
"I'm sorry." He murmured, running the backs of his fingers across her cheeks, "But you're safe."
"Of course I'm safe," she placed her hand on top of his, leaning into his touch, "Why wouldn't I be?"
Erik was silent, just staring at her with a thoughtful crease in his brow. Reaching down he took her free hand in his and pulled her along behind him into the living room. Elena was standing beside her chair and glaring harshly at her brother, jaw clenched.
Vivian squeezed his hand tightly and looked down at the floor, tugging him towards the couch.
"Elena, give us a minute." He ordered, allowing Vivian to pull him down onto the cushion beside her.
His eldest sister nodded harshly, shooting him a look that said 'You have a lot to answer for' and left, probably to join Ania wherever she was.
Vivian pulled her legs up beneath her and sat up on her knees, supporting herself on her husband's shoulders, "What the hell happened?" She asked, her patience wearing thin.
Erik gripped her hips, his fingers digging into her sides, but not uncomfortably. He pulled her closer, his hands moving across her stomach and staring down at her swollen belly, "Something happened at the warehouse."
