Vivian watched the countryside speed past the car window, holding her stomach in a form of comfort, considering the moment she got off the jet her small blob hadn't been able to settle down. She missed home. She missed her family. She missed Erik, Dannye, and Johanna.
She had to keep reminding herself that soon this would all be over and their lives could finally begin. They would all be together again, safe, and happy.
"We should arrive in about 10 minutes. How are you doing?" Ania asked, from the seat beside her in the van.
Vivian turned away from the window and gave her a weak smile, "I'm alright. Anxious but okay."
"We'll be there before you know it!" She reassured her, "Everything is taken care of and you'll be safe."
"I'm not worried about me," Vivian mumbled to herself but Ania didn't hear her.
"Raoul is one of Erik's best men. He trusts him with his life, well rather your life I suppose." She giggled, "If anything goes wrong, Raoul will handle it." She seemed to beam with pride.
Vivian turned to the side to look at the stern guard, that didn't seem to be paying them much attention, "Why have I never seen him before if he's one of Erik's best men?" She questioned.
Ania frowned and took in a deep breath, "Well, he is usually stationed at our mother's house." Was her simple and short answer, "Erik trusted him the most to keep us safe and he'll do the same for you now."
"I appreciate you coming with me." Vivian smiled, grabbing her hand and giving it a light squeeze, "I wouldn't be able to do this alone."
"Of course!"
As she released her hand, she noticed the small diamond ring on Ania's ring finger, "Your ring is so pretty!" She complimented.
Immediately, Ania's face flushed and she tried to cover it with her curly black hair, "Umm thank you." She mumbled.
"Are you engaged?"
She nervously wiggled in her seat, looking around, "Yes." She answered after a pause.
Vivian's smile widened and she turned to fully face her, "This is so exciting! Who is it? What's he like?"
"Umm, well-" Ania's eyes flickered over to Raoul but it went unnoticed by Vivian, "He's very kind and loyal."
"What does he look like?"
Raoul cleared his throat, but continued to watch out the window. He too shifted in his seat uncomfortably.
"Umm- he's fairly tall, taller than Erik at least and he has brown eyes." She responded vaguely.
"Well I can't wait to meet him." Vivian said, clearly excited, "Does Erik know? I figured he would have told me."
"Yes... he knows. Are you excited to be home?" Ania quickly changed the topic.
Vivian hesitated at the sudden shift in mood but nodded, "Yeah." Her eyebrows scrunching in slight pain from a sharp kick to her ribcage,
They all were quiet for a few minutes until another sharp stabbing pain struck her, this time lower in her stomach. She groaned, holding the affected area as if it would help it to subside, which it didn't.
"Are you okay?" Ania sat up, trying to offer her some support.
"Yeah- yeah, I'm fine, just... don't feel so good." She swallowed down a lump in her throat as her head began to spin, "I just need to get out of this car."
This must have caught Raoul's attention because he turned to look over at her, "We should be there soon. Do you need us to stop?"
She shook her head with a weak smile, "No, no, I'll be okay. Like you said we're almost there."
