Cloud X Reader: I've Always Liked You

This starts in a small town in Midgar, where you grew up with your childhood friends Tifa and Cloud. The last time you saw either of them was the night Cloud confessed that he was leaving to become a SOLDIER, just like Sephiroth, and ever since, the three of you have ended all contact with each other. That is, until today. You had just purchased a pair of nunchucks from the weapon shop, and testing them on a few small mutant rats in Scrap Boulevard, when a gang of ruthless men approached you.

"Well well, look who we have here. What are you doin' by yourself little lady?" You turned to see five men maliciously staring at you. It was the same group of boys who terrorized you when you were little. Cloud used to protect you, but now, you were on your own.

"What do you freaks want? Haven't you learned your lesson the last couple times you tried to mess with me?" The leader of the gang clenched his teeth, and grabbed you.

"Listen to me, you bitch! That was then, and this is now! And where's your knight in shining armor, huh?" He pinned you to the ground, smirking. He was angry that you rejected him hundreds of times, no matter what he did to impress you.

"Aww, are you mad cause you have nobody to compete for my love?" You teased, flipping to where he was on the ground, your foot on his back.

"Hey! Get off of him!" Two of his men grabbed each of your arms and lifted you up.

"Let me go!!" You squirmed and fought to be released, but their grip on you tightened. The last two remaining men grabbed your set of nunchucks and threw it further away.

"Give those back!!" The leader stood up from where he was and slapped you.

"You will show me some respect you bitch!" Before he could raise his hand again, a baritone voice stopped him.

"Get away from her if you know what's good for you." You glanced at the entrance, and saw a blond haired man wearing a SOLDIER uniform. His mako eyes glimmered in the light of the sun, and a large buster sword rested behind his back. Wait, is that......?

"Ahh geez, it's you again. Let's get him boys." You were brutally dropped on your knees, and you witnessed the blond haired man beating all five of them to a pulp. The blond approached you and offered a gloved hand to you.

"Are you alright, Y/n?" Nobody knew you personally unless.... Cloud!!! You took his hand and wrapped your arms around his neck.

"Cloud Strife! It's been too long! How are you?" You smiled ear to ear and gazed into his eyes. He was so handsome now, compared to when he was a teenager!

"I'm fine. Uh, what were you doing here anyways?" Cloud pulled away, rubbing the back of his neck. You picked up hope nunchucks off the floor and dusted the dirt off, taking one last look at the guys groaning in agony.

"I was testing my weapons out on a few creatures is all. What about you? I haven't seen you in years, with no call, text, or even a letter." You walked back to town with him.

"I just came back from doing something important, and collecting my pay when I heard you yelling. I gotta say, you look fantastic." You became flustered at his last comment. You wore ripped jeans, a t shirt with a chocobo on it, and ankle boots.

"Um, thanks I guess. So, have you seen Tifa yet?" You two arrived at Seventh Heaven with Cloud. You never had the chance to tell him how you felt about him since you were children, but you figured him and Tifa would get together sooner or later, but you weren't sure.

"Yeah, and I'm guessing you two haven't?" You shook your head and the moment you opened the double doors, a girl with long dark hair looked up from the counter she was cleaning and smiled brightly when her eyes set on you.

"Y/n, is that you?!" She hopped over the bar and hugged you tightly.

"I can't believe you're here!! It's been too long! Looks like the trio is back together!" She giggled.

"It's great to see you again Tifa. How've you been?" You sat at the bar, drinking the glass of water she made for you.

"Great! Doing good things for the world, you know the normal things. Cloud told me about your ambush with those guys. Are you okay?" You nodded your head once, and watched Cloud play darts horribly.

"Playing darts huh Cloud?" You stood up and aimed a free dart at the bullseye.

"How did you do that?" Cloud asked in disbelief.

"Cloud, she's like, the queen of darts. Her eyes are her ticket to winning." Tifa joined in.

"It's like when were kids. We used to play this all the time, and I would beat the both of you easily." You aimed for the bullseye again successfully.

"Yeah? Are you still the bullseye queen?" Cloud laughed a little, missing the board completely.

"Yeah, and clearly, you still suck." You chuckled.

"Oh come on! You can't claim the title after all these years! Y/n, if you prove you're still the best, you can keep the  title. If Cloud claims it, he keeps it." Tifa started the challenge. Cloud whispered in your ear;

"If I win this, can I also claim you?"  You blushed, but agreed.

"I'm rooting for you Y/n! Sorry Cloud!" Tifa cheered. You and Cloud began taking turns throwing darts, and at first, you were on a roll, aiming for the bullseye every time. But towards the end is when Cloud started racking up points and tying with you.

"Okay, last round you two. Whoever wins gets the title of Dart Master." Tifa reminded you. Cloud's words replayed like a melody in your head, and next thing you know, Cloud won the game!

"Okay, that's a wrap! Good job you two! I gotta grab something from the back. Behave." Tifa left you alone with your crush.

"I guess that means I'm the new dart master huh?" You scoffed and slouched on the wall.

"Yeah yeah.... Huh?!" You suddenly found Cloud pinning you to the wall, his hand slamming next to your head.

"How do you feel about me?" He asked you, his index finger and thumb pressed on your chin. You looked down at your feet, embarrassed.

"I've always liked you Cloud." He lifted your chin, and leaned in to kiss you.

"I feel the same way about you. Tifa and I are just friends, and it's going to stay that way." You embraced him and that's how it stayed until Tifa came back with a smile on her face, knowing she had successfully played matchmaker.
