Vincent x Reader: Remember?

You walked into your friend Tifa's bar, where all of your friends were throwing a party for the shooting star festival. It was an annual event where everyone would find a secluded spot to watch the stars with their loved ones. You didn't have a loved one, but you had your best friend Vincent Valentine to watch them with you. He was the only one who really knew you, and you knew him. You greeted him with a warm hug. Nobody was allowed to get too close to him.

"Hey you." You looked up at the 6'0 man. He didn't always look like this. Neither did you. In fact, you two were experiments to Hojo years ago. He harbored Chaos, and you? You had been bathed in Mako, just like Cloud.

"Hey. How've you been?" You leaned against the wall with him. You loved being around him, and you were there when his heart was broken. You had developed feelings for him, but kept it to yourself all these years, afraid of jeopardizing your friendship with him. He was in love with you too, but didn't know it, mostly because he still isn't over Lucrecia. You talked to him for half an hour before Tifa grabbed everyone's attention.

"Hey everyone! The shooting stars are about to start appearing in the sky, so let's grab our star watching buddies, and let's go!" Tifa grabbed Cloud, Aerith grabbed Zack, Barrett picked up Marlene, and Yuffie took Cait Sith and Namaki with her. You and Vincent were the last to leave, and before you could walk any further, Vincent stops you.

"Hey. There's a spot we can go to watch the stars. It's a place that's very sacred to me, but I think it's time for you to see this place. What do you say?" You smiled.

"Lets go." You grabbed Vincent's hand and he picked you up bridal style, letting his wings stretch free. You loved flying with him. It was truly a magical moment that was worth being with him. You could tell something was on his mind. You just knew by the way his brows furrowed in deep thought. But you never questioned him. He was bound to tell you sooner or later. He landed on the bottom of a hill and put you down. You smiled, wanting to play. You and Vincent used to play tag all the time when you were kids, and it warmed yours and Vincent's heart to this day.

"Race you to the top?" You suggested, side eyeing him.

"Only if I can catch you." He smiled through his cloak, and he gave you a five second head start and ran after you. You ran as fast as you were able, squealing when Vincent caught you by the waist the moment you reached the top. He brought you to the grass, and pinned you there, gazing at your bright face. You've always been a happy person to him. Even when he found you in a mako tank, you still smiled. And that's why he loved you.

"Vinny!!!" You laughed, and blushed when you caught Vincent staring into your eyes. It went on for a moment before Vincent realized he was staring for too long, and fell flush himself.

"S- sorry.... I got carried away." Vincent rolled off of you, laying next to you under the big cherry tree. You laid in silence, thinking about nothing. It wasn't long before that silence was broken.

"Hey." You both said at the same time.

"Sorry. You go ahead." You giggled.

"No, you go ahead." He laughed nervously. You shook your head and playfully pushed him.

"Remember when we both started working as Turks and for some reason, Hojo-" you started saying, but Vincent finished that sentence for you.

"Thought we were together? Yeah, I remember. I had to tell him we were just friends." He looked up at the sky, looking back to that memory.
