Vincent x Sweet! Reader: Wait for Me

This was requested by Anime123miku, and first and foremost, happy birthday Vincent!!! Now that I'm done simping, let's go simp some more!!!

"Vincent!! Oh Vincent!" You knocked on the door a few times. Tonight was one of the biggest festivals of the year, and you didn't want to go alone, and since it was Vincent's birthday, you invited him.  You heard the faint clacking of his shoes, and when the door opened, you found your friend scanning your outfit: a simple kimono with your favorite colors, and your hair was put up in a traditional hairdo. A blush formed on his face, and you couldn't help but to giggle.

"Hey Vince! What are you up to tonight?!" You let yourself in, with Vincent calling after you.

"Y/n, what are you doing here?" Vincent was cold with everyone, including you, but you didn't care. You dug through his dresser, and laid out a kimono that matched yours.

"While there are festivities going on out there, you're in here sulking again! Put this on and let's go!" You took a hold of his gauntlet arm. You were a very energetic person, and you were also the sweetest. You were just about the only person among your friends that didn't fight. And you wanted it to stay that way. Most of the time, Vincent or Cloud had to protect you, and Vincent found that protecting you gave him a reason to come around more. The only company he got while he was at home was you. You would bring over baked goods, and a movie to watch, and he didn't complain. Your smile and puppy like personality made him want to see you more and more. If anything, he loved you. For once, nobody treated him like a monster. He remembered the night you came over in tears because a few gang members had stolen what gill you had, and he had to leave you to get it back, and when he was about to give it to you, he found you fast asleep in his bed.

"I..... I'm not going. Sorry." He blantly responded, sitting back down at the back door, one leg laid flat on the floor, and the other bent.

"I'm not taking no for an answer. Now get dressed, or else I'll go alone." He sighed. You were just too stubborn.

"Fine. Wait here. And don't fall asleep on my bed again." He arose from the floor and walked into the bathroom with the kimono. You pulled out a keychain that said partners in crime embellished on the front. You waited on his bed, the aroma of chamomile emitting from his blanket. He only slept in it when you were around, which was every day.

"I look different...." You looked up from the keychain and gasped in amazement at how good he looked in something that wasn't his usual attire. You clapped your hands and squealed. He wore the kimono, and his hair wasn't in his face. In fact, the bandana was gone.

"You look so good! Vinny, I had no idea you would look so handsome!!" You held out the keychain. He took it, and he blushed again. Nobody has ever gotten him anything.

"I know it's not much, but happy birthday Vincent." You wrapped your arms around his waist, your head resting against his chest. He sure was tall. You heard his heart thumping loudly.

"Thank you Y/n. Really. You're really sweet." He hesitantly returned the hug. You looked up at him, pouting.

"What? What's wrong?" He watched with concern as you walked away for a moment, stacking book after book in front of him.

"You're too tall." You stepped up on the top of the books and leaned in, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek.

"Can we go now? I don't want to miss the fireworks later on!" You grabbed his hand and practically dragged him out after he locked the door.

"Y/n, please wait for me. I don't want you getting lost in the crowd." He grabbed a hold of you, tying his bandana to your wrist.

"Vinny, I want to play those games, and ride the Ferris wheel! Let's start with the games!!" You ran over to one of the games, determined to win a stuffed chocobo. The only problem was, you couldn't win. Vincent hated seeing you with any other emotion that wasn't pure joy, so he stepped up from behind you.

"Here. Let me try." After one attempt, he easily wins the game, and the vendor hands you a chocobo!

"Eeek!!! Thank you Vincent!!! Let's go grab some cotton candy!!" He sighed and thanked the vendor before following you. These crowds are getting larger by the second.

"Y/n?" He realized you weren't at the cotton candy stand, and rage started pumping through him. What if you got kidnapped? What if those Turks came for you? They've been after you since day one, and he promised he would protect you. Before Chaos was able to take over, Vincent spotted his red bandana and followed it, and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw you crouched in an alleyway, crying.

"Y/n!" You looked up and ran to him, crying even more.

"Vincent! I thought you left me! I was so afraid!!" He held you close to him.

"I'm so glad you're not hurt. I was worried those Turks had gotten to you before I did. Here." He intertwined your fingers with his. He felt it was the only way to keep you close to him.

"Vinny......" You blushed crimson, wiping your tears with your free hand.

"It's almost time for the fireworks. Why don't we go ride the Ferris wheel?" Your bright smile came back to your face and you nodded. You and Vincent held hands the entire time, and after he bought you some cotton candy, you two got on the Ferris wheel, and snuggled in your seats, waiting for the fireworks to begin.

"I love you Vincent." You rested your head on his shoulder as the fireworks began shooting up into the clear night sky. Vincent turned his head, wrapped his arm around you, and gave your head a kiss. He realized you were the one for him. You came into his life, and gave him a reason to wake up every morning. Now that he knew how you felt, he could feel the same.

"I love you too Y/n. I always will." He smiled, watching the fireworks with his new love.
