Genesis x Reader: Only One Tent?!

This was requested by the lovely Lyria_WR, who was right about there being no stories about Mr. Loveless in the photo above😜 enjoy as usual!!

Your life is great. You were one of the best skilled 2nd class SOLDIERS, made a good friend named Zack, you thought nothing can go wrong. That is, until you wake up SUPER late one morning.

"Crap!! Director Lazard is going to kill me!!" You rushed to put on your uniform and hastily make your way to the training room, where everyone was waiting for you, looks of disapproval plastered on their faces. Sephiroth must've made them do push ups until you arrived.

"Miss L/n, you're late. If this wasn't your first time, I'd make you do double the amount of push ups your fellow SOLDIERS did. But I'll let it slide for now." Sephiroth spared you the never ending lecture he often gave anyone who was late. After that ordeal, you stood at attention next to Zack.

"Hey what happened? You're usually not late." Zack asked in a whisper.

" I don't know, but I completely skipped breakfast. I've never missed a meal in my life. Can this day possibly get any worse?" You responded back. And boy, were you right. The training was boring, and you sat through some rather bland lessons. Then, lunch time came around, and you darted straight to the dining halls, only to be served something that looked like someone barfed. It turned out that everyone was being served the same thing!

"Great. Now my appetite is gone." You pushed away your tray of poison with a deep sigh.

"Don't worry Y/n. I'm sure things can't get any worse." Just as Zack was saying that, a voice over the intercom blared through the loud sounds in the dining hall.

"Attention all SOLDIERS. Will 2nd class SOLDIER Y/n please report to Director Lazard's office immediately." You sunk in your chair as you heard your name behind called. Director Lazard doesn't like a slacker, much less someone who is lazy.

"Ooohh you're in trouble!" Zack teased you, poking your sides.

"Shut up Fair! What if I'm in trouble for this morning?!" You shoved him off, crossing your arms. You didn't want to go alone, so Zack offered to happily escort you to Lazard's office.

"You requested me, Director?" You shyly walked inside the office after Zack ran back to the dining hall.

"Ah! Yes! Miss L/n, please take a seat while we wait for Mr. Rhapsados." Lazard motioned at the chair placed neatly in front of his desk, and you did as he asked.

"I'm not in trouble, am I?" You blurted out, and Lazard let out an amused laugh.

"Not at all! In fact, I'm assigning a mission to you!" A mission?! Yes! Finally, some real action! Just then, the door opened again, and you turned to see one of the 1st class SOLDIERS walk in and roll his eyes upon seeing you. Genesis. You didn't take too kindly to him, and he felt the same way about you. He often thought of you as a nuiscance, and quite useless to him. You were bound to one day, prove him that you're more than a 2nd class SOLDIER.

"Director Lazard. Y/n." He greeted the director with a nod, then you with annoyance hinted in his tone. Ugh, you were sick of him. All he does is read the same book over and over and train.

"Mr. Rhapsados, I have assigned a mission to you and Y/n over here. I want you to go with her to Sector 7 and investigate a very important matter. Here are the details and safe travels!" He dismissed the both of you before either can even protest. You went to your sleeping quarters, and packed what you needed, including a radio to call for help if anything were to happen. When you were done, you and Genesis walked to the roof where the helicopter was waiting for you.

"I hope you know I've never liked you. And you better not get in my way neither." You scoffed at his comment and hopped in, sitting across from him.

"If I knew better, I'd say you're jealous of me. I can fight better than you and you know it!" You jabbed your finger at his chest. Genesis laughed.

"Me? Jealous of you? Sweetheart, don't think you're better than me just because you surpassed the strengths of a 1st class SOLDIER." Your eyes widened, and at that moment, the helicopter started failing and the two of you had no choice but to jump out before it caught fire and exploded.

"Genesis!!!!" You started falling at a very fast speed, and just when you were about to hit the ground, Genesis swoops in and envelopes you with his wing to protect you from the fall. And in that moment, you realized you were at the top of a mountain, and man was it cold!

"It's getting dark." You tightened your coat around you.

"If you hadn't taken a million years to pack for this dumb mission, we would be halfway to our destination by now!" Genesis dusted himself off.

"Oh my fault?! If you weren't so arrogant, we wouldn't be freezing our asses off up here! We need to call for help instead of arguing!" You got close enough to push him. Suddenly, a few monsters surround you, with intentions to eat you.

"Do me a favor, and stay out of my way." Genesis summoned his sword and was quickly cornered by the monsters.

"You'll see that I'm not useless!" You drew your sword and jumped in front of him. You held your breath, each and every monster getting defeated by you.

"I didn't need your help woman!"

"Clearly, you did! Now shut up before I stab my sword into you too!" You wiped the blood off your weapon with your handkerchief, and put both items away.

"Fine. But I'm not sharing my tent with you." Wait what?! Only one tent?!!

"I thought they gave us two!"

"They did. Yours caught on fire along with the helicopter."

"I'm not sleeping out here!" You watched as Genesis set up the only tent and climbed inside.

"Sorry, but it isn't my problem." Genesis shrugged before closing the tent.

"Genesis Rhapsados, if you don't let me in right now, I'm going to burn your book as kindling!" You held your enemy's book in your hand, and you heard a loud groan.

"Fine, just don't tell a soul about this, understand?!" He let you in, and after that, you turn with your back to him.

"By the way, don't even think about touching me." You insulted.

"I could say the same to you." Genesis said with a smug smile that was worthy of a punch to the face. Soon, you fell asleep and rolled far enough to wrap your arms around a still awake Genesis.

"So... Warm...." At that moment, with that close contact, Genesis realized that being around this person wasn't so bad. In fact, something in him kicked in and just had to save them from falling to their deaths. The next day, you awoke and once you saw your arm around a certain someone's waist, you shrieked and climbed out of the tent.

"Genesis?!" You blushed, and hid your face.

"Y/n, I have something to say. I'm sorry for what I said before. I was so caught up in my selfish ways that I forgot that you are a woman who has everything. I've also been doing some thinking. Maybe you aren't so bad after all, and if you want, the two of us can be together. In secret of course. What do you think?" You heard something in his voice that you've never heard before.

"Genesis, that's sweet, and I would, but we can't even make it home." You sighed, but then you teeted in embarrassment.

"What is it?' He watched as you reached into your bag and pulled out a radio.

"I forgot I had this!!" Genesis shook his head and grinned as you called for help.

"What am I going to do with you?" He hugged you from behind and planted a kiss on your cheek.
