Soft! Cloud X Reader- This Is For You

Ugh I suck I know!! I'm just now getting to this one shot!! This was requested by --CLOUDYWINGS! So, I really hope you're not mad at me for making you wait this long!!! My brain is gonna be fried after this😭😭😭

"Come on Cloud!!" You giggled as you dragged the ex SOLDIER inside Aerith's church. You had known him since childhood, and was always delighted to see him. Since Aerith and Zack had gotten married and left the church and the flowers to you, Cloud was always happy to accompany you, even if he had a very important mission to finish.

"How are you so strong? You're half my size!" Cloud could only let himself be dragged, for he had a secret: he had developed a crush on you since the day he fell from the roof of the church. He had woken up, and his mako infused eyes set upon yours, and from that moment, he had vowed to someday tell you how he felt, but in a very special way.

"Oh, will you smile? You always look so grumpy!" You still held his hand, stopping in front of the flowers that grew.

"Huh?! N- no I don't..." Cloud blushed and looked away from you.

"Oh Cloudy! Here!" You put your index fingers on each side of his lips, raising them to form a smile.

"H-hey, stop that.." Cloud shook his head.

"Oh no! Cloud!" You knelt in front of a single wilting lily. Tears welled up in your eyes. Cloud hovered your shoulders, sighing.

"Cloud, it's dying...... I can hear it....." You placed your fingers gently under the delicate petals, examining the dying flower. You made a promise to Aerith that you would take good care of her precious flowers while she was gone, and you felt like you had let her down. You stood up, head to the floor.

"Lets go Cloud....." You wrapped your arms around yourself, turning away from the flower.

"Yeah sure."Cloud followed after you, taking one last peek at the dying plant. Later that night, you were hanging out at the bar after hours, chatting and downing shots. Well not you anyways. You were too sad to chat, and you didn't drink, so you hung out with Vincent in the dark corner of the bar. In the middle of the bar, Yuffie was jumping up and down, trying to reach the bag of gill Cid had stolen from her, Cloud was whispering to Tifa about something you weren't able to hear, and Barret and the others were dancing and playing darts.

"Okay everyone! I think it's time to call it a night! Let's meet up tomorrow morning and talk before I have to open the bar!" Tifa said. The next morning, all but one person had arrived.

"Has anyone seen Cloud?" You looked around for any sign of him, but it felt like he wasn't even close to being at the bar. Little did you know, that he was doing something at Aerith's church, planning a small, but delicate surprise for you. Every day, Cloud went on his usual delivery runs, and didn't return until the sun went down. Tifa said it was a "merc" thing, but you didn't believe her for a second. One day, you were helping Tifa at the bar by sweeping, organizing, and wiping down the tables before customers came in that evening.

"Is Cloud still doing his deliveries?" You called out to your friend.

"I think so, but he should be back soon. And when you're done, can you-" Tifa was suddenly interrupted by her phone vibrating on the counter.

"Hello? Hey Cloud, what's up? Are you okay? You sound distressed. Oh no, I'll send Y/n to come help you! Okay, bye!" Tifa hung up.

"Is everything okay?" You approached with caution. Tifa handed you a first aid kit from the top shelf.

"Cloud is hurt! He was attacked by a couple of monsters in front of Aerith's church! You have to go help him!" She sent you off, and you can as fast as you were able to, thoughts of a very injured Cloud on your mind. Once you reached the church, you opened the doors to find no one. Where's Cloud? Panic spewed through you. You walked out of the church, dialing Tifa's number, unaware of a spiky haired man leaning against the wall.

"Y/n." You turned to see Cloud looking at you, with a slight smile on his face. He stood up straight, and a blush crept on his pale face as he held something out to you. A flower?

"H-here. This is for you." He glared at a random pebble on the floor.

"Cloud?! What's this?!" You took the flower from his hand, and immediately knew it was the same one that was dying a couple days prior! It was beaming with life! But how?!

"I um..... I planned this...... I spent the entire time bringing this thing back to life, just so I could see you smile again." You hugged him, crying tears of joy.

"Cloud! You jerk! I hate you!" Of course you didn't mean that. If anything, you loved him.

"Hm. I love you too Y/n." He hugged you right back, content that you're smiling again.
