Today is the day we check out of the hotel and head to the Inn; I'm up, showered and now I am packing up our stuff. Abigale is the first to wake up and she starts to help me with the packing
"Taylor, I'm really happy about our new move, our new life and you were right, Tom needed this, and I needed this too"
I see the sadness behind her brave appearance, so, I smile at her and respond.
"We all needed this Abby, and one day we will get Natalia, I promise, we won't turn our backs on her, we won't forget about our sister."
I kissed her forehead and held her in my arms gently rubbing her back. We continue to pack, and I come upon the note from Mr. Fine, Noah, and I put it in my handbag with the utmost care.
A few minutes later Tom awakes, I give him a bath and get him dressed before we head down to breakfast. Check out is at 12 noon and I wanted to make sure that there were no delays once that time comes.
We get down to the dining room and he's there in casual clothes. Dark blue denim and a white v neck t shirt that clings to his well-built chest, the result of good genes and a very rigid gym habit, I think to myself. A gold chain around his neck and his left arm with a half sleeve tattoo, is that his weekend look?
I can't decide what I like him more in, his fancy blue suits or this sexy casual weekend look. He's a fine motherfucker either way, I think to myself. His head turns in my direction, he smiles at me, I smile back at him then blush. This has become the normal response to his gestures, or whenever I see him. He has this incomprehensible control over my body's reaction to him.
His friend Elijah nods then smiles at me, and I return the courtesy. Do those two do anything or go anywhere without each other? I think to myself. Before we get a chance to sit, he gets up, walks over to us, and my heart skip many beats.
"Taylor" he greets me, with a hug and a kiss on my cheek.
That tingly feeling of electricity surging through me returns and it flows toward my heart speeding it up my heartbeat. It must have fried my brain, because I hugged him back. But I didn't just hug him I put my arms around him and pressed my body into his chest, closing my eyes as I do.
When I open my eyes, Abby is looking up at me puzzled, then I realized what I had done. I pulled away quickly, embarrassed at my thirsty behavior, what the hell was I thinking?
"Noah, um, sorry" I say flustered and he smiles, the look on his face tells me he is pleased with my reaction.
I turn to the kids, and I say, "this is Abigale, my little sister" I point to Abby. Then I point to Tom and say, "and this is Thomas, my son".
Noah smiles at both the kids and says "Abigale, Thomas it's a pleasure meeting you both". They both say hi and Abby as usual tries to stare him down, but he missed it as his attention returned to me.
"I understand you are leaving the hotel today. Can I speak to you before you leave?"
"I'm not sure, I still have packing to do and check out is at 12 noon".
"Certainly, you know you don't have to check out by 12 noon" he says casually.
"Actually, I do its hotel policy" I retort.
"I'll change that policy then" he says authoritatively, while staring at me
"Ok we can talk" I say crumbling under his intense gaze. He nods his head then pulls out my chair.
"May I join you for breakfast?" he asks but looks at the kids as he speaks.
He may have figured out where approval is needed before he gets a foot into this family. Unfortunately, he doesn't know that there is way more to this family than meets the eye. There may not be a way for him to get a foot in, at least I can't see one now and a part of me feels deflated.
