Sana's pov

Everything is dormant.

The whole burrow is asleep. Not one person managed to stay up later than 10, yesterday. Remus and I got into bed and as soon as his head met the pillow he fell into slumber.

Not even the silent screams of the forest, nor the shrieking of the leaves can be heard.

Yet I can't fall asleep.

I've tried everything. Tossing and turning didn't work, pulling the covers down didn't work, pulling them up didn't work either. I even tried the classic one foot in, one foot out. Didn't work.

Maybe my thoughts are keeping me up. I let out a sigh, tracing the air with the tip of my finger.

Remus sleeps soundly beside me. The sound is perhaps the most peaceful I've ever heard. His breaths so deep and long, you'd think he wasn't even taking part in a war.

He shifts in his sleep, inching towards me. I let myself slide into his arms, staring at him fondly. His fingers start to crawl around my waist, and I fear I might've disrupted his sleep.

"Can't sleep?" He asks. I nod, taking his face in my hands and pressing my lips softly against his own. He pulls me by my waist, returning the kiss affectionately.

His lips are softer than the silkiest cloud. They take my mind into places I've only wished to see, they make me wonder if I'm not in fact dreaming, if there actually is a world where it's just him & I.

That may be the only thing I preserve so dearly in these dark times. Him & I. Me and him. Us.

He grazes my shoulder with his lips, goosebumps covering my body. "Cant sleep at all. I'm sorry for waking you." I apologise.

He shakes his head, wraps his fingers around mine. "Nevermind that. I'll gladly stay up with you." He says.

We lay in silence for a while, our hands intertwined, my head just where his neck meets his body. Enjoying the peaceful silence, which can end at any second.

"I want to show you something." He says spontaneously. I raise my eyebrows. "I found this spot yesterday while you were off chatting with Hermione. Can I take you there?" He suggests.

I nod reluctantly. "I'd love to, but do you think it's wise for us to leave the burrow at these times?"

He chuckles. "It's in the burrow. Well— sort of." I look at him, struggling to understand. "Just come with me." He lifts me up, carries me out of the bed.

"Remus!" I hit his abdomen, but he doesn't budge. "Grab my two coats and a blanket." He says. I snicker. "How am I supposed to do that? My feet aren't even on the ground."

"Like this." He faces my body downwards, I grab the coats and the blankets rapidly, then he pulls me back up.

"I was about 99 percent sure you were going to drop me." I say. "I'm glad the one percent was enough to impress you." He retorts.

Remus puts me down, throwing a large coat around himself. I do the same. He takes my hand, and we silently make our way out the door.

As we walk we are careful not to make too much sound, we don't want to wake anyone else up. And knowing the Weasleys, one creak of the floorboard is enough to wake all of them up.

It's quite unsettling actually.

I was staying at the Weasleys a couple summers ago, and I needed to pee, as one does. So I tiptoed my way into the bathroom, and when the door made one single squeak, Ginny was up.
