The girl stood in front of me. "If you're going go shoot someone, it's going to be me. Got it? Put the damn gun down!"

"Move out of the way, Kaycee. MOVE!"

She wouldn't budge.

"SIR, PUT YOUR WEAPON DOWN IMMEDIATELY OR WE WILL FIRE!" Another policeman yelled.

Suddenly, everything turned into slow motion. Jason whipped around and aimed his gun at one of the officers. He shot, but so did they. Jason was hit 2 times in the chest, and he fell to the ground. Kaycee screamed and began crying. Jack was still unconscious on the ground.

I have never seen someone die.

The police ran in, asking questions. I felt like I couldn't hear anything.

I have never seen someone die.

My vision got blurry, and then everything turned black.

"Paige, are you okay?" I awoke to Jack's voice. He was kneeling down next to me, holding a wet paper towel to his lip. I was laying on the soft grass outside of Kaycee's house. A paramedic quickly approached me.

"Hi Paige, how are you? You doing okay?"

I rubbed my head and sat up. "I- I'm fine. I've never been in such a dramatic situation, I guess. Where's Kaycee?"

"She went to the hospital. She'll be okay."

"Wh- what about Jason?" I asked.

"He passed away." Jack spoke.

An image shot through my mind of what happened before I supposedly passed out.

"Are you injured?" The lady asked.

"No, I'm completely fine. Thank you." I stood up.

"Okay, then we'll be on our way. Have a nice day."

Have a nice day. Yeah. Thanks.

"Thank you." Jack said. She walked back to the ambulance truck and got inside. When they drove off, I noticed that me and Jack were the only people here.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"He knocked me out, and busted my lip a little, but it's all good. I'm fine."

"You guys were fighting for like a good 10 minutes though." I said.

"Most of my energy went into blocking his punches. He didn't get me that bad."

"Jack, I watched him die." Tears arose to my eyes.

He wrapped me in a hug. "I'm sorry."

I cried onto his shoulder, then released him.

"I really need a shower." I shook my head and wiped my eyes, snapping myself out of it.

"Me too." He put his arm around me and began walking towards our house. "I'll get in with you." He said. For some reason, that was exactly what I wanted.

"Are you guys okay?!" Jack J shot through the front door and looked at me, then at Jack, who were both sitting on the couch watching the news.

"We're fine." Jack said.

I pulled my wet hair up into a ponytail. "Everything's okay." I said.

"God, something bad always happens to you two. Why can't things just be happy for once?" Jack J shook his head.

"What'd be the fun in that?" Jack grinned.

I giggled and smiled at him. Maybe for once things could just be happy. We're going to London soon, so I can only pray that everything goes well.

"What are you guys doing tonight?" Jack J asked.

"After all that, I'm honestly not sure." Jack said.

"Yeah I don't know." I shrugged. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Who's here?" Jack looked at Jack J.

"I have no clue." Jack J shrugged. "I didn't invite anyone."

"I'll get it." I stood up and went to the door. When I opened it, I was immediately in shock.

"MOM! DAD!" I basically screamed. I leaned into them and hugged them tight.

"Hi Paige!" My mom giggled.

"What are you guys doing here? Oh my gosh!" I glanced down at their suitcases.

"We wanted to surprise you!" My dad smiled.
