"W-wait.. You have?" Chills arose to my skin.
He looked at the ground. "I can't explain it. I'll see her when I'm out with friends, out of the window at the meeting I'm at, at a restaurant, and in my dreams.. I don't get it. It's like she's following me. It's terrifying and I've never told anyone before."
I didn't know what to say. If I tell him that she's alive, I'll be breaking Ava's promise about not telling anyone. But Nash's mental health obviously isn't intact and I don't want him to keep being like this. If I tell him or not, either way, I'd be a horrible friend.
"What kind of dreams?" I asked.
"Like she's coming to me and saying she misses me. I don't know. They're always like that." He ran his fingers through his hair.
"I've had dreams like that too." I nodded. "You aren't alone."
He looked at me. "Do you feel like she's constantly following you?"
"Sometimes I do."
"Well mine is constant, and I can't get rid of it."
Suddenly, Jack J walked in the door.
"Oh, hey guys." He greeted.
Nash sat up and got himself together. I stood up. "I'll catch up with you later, okay?" I almost whispered. "Hi Jack, I have to go somewhere, sorry!" I patted him on the shoulder while making my way out of Nash's house.
My abrubt exit probably made it obvious that there was something going on, but Jack J doesn't ask too many questions. I ran out to my car and got inside. After pulling out of the parking lot, I began making my way to TeaLeaf, my favorite tea hangout.
I was at a stopping light when I heard something moving in the backseat. I quickly looked in my rearview mirror. Ava suddenly appeared, looking me in the eyes. I screamed in terror, and looked back at her. She really was there. I heard cars honking at me.
"The light is green!" She pointed out the window.
"What the HELL!!" I pulled off of the road and into a McDonald's parking lot. I immediately took my seatbelt off so I could be face to face to her.
"Why would you do that to me? How'd you even get into my car, and why are you in LA?"
"Getting into your car was easy, you never lock it. I had to hide."
"So, tell me why you're here?" I threw my hands up.
"I need to tell you something." She looked down.
"Well go on." I shrugged.
"You know how I'm- I'm running from someone right? The person that's trying to hurt me?" She rubbed the back of her neck uncomfortably.
"Yeah.. I do.." I said quietly.
"Paige.. It's Nash. I'm running from Nash."
