"Well, yeah. You know that I do." I replied.

"I just wanted to make sure you meant what you said, because I meant what I said 100%. I don't want to be with anyone else, Paige. I love you."

One of the most satisfying and fulfilling sentences of my entire life. Nothing feels better than being loved by the person who loves you. It wasn't just a dumb, teenager, puppy love either. I felt it with my whole heart. It was all I knew, but it's real.

"I love you too. And when I say something, I'll always mean it." I said.

With that, he grabbed a little black box from the table. Oh no.

He slowly opened the tiny box. Inside was a stunning ring. It was silver, and clean cut. It had the shape of a key engraved into it, along with a little heart that had a petite diamond inside.

"So do you promise? You promise to be with me forever?"

I covered my mouth.

"Is this a promise ring?" I asked.

"No Paige. It's an engagement ring."

My expression rapidly changed.

"Wait what?!" I asked.

"Yes. It's a promise ring." He laughed.

I held my hand over my heart. "Don't give me a heart attack." I smiled.

He grabbed the ring from the box and grabbed my hand. Slowly, he slid it on my ring finger. I couldn't help but notice how shaky how hands were. It made me smile.

I admired how it sparkled, and how much he really loved me. It just seemed so unreal.

"I promise." I smiled.

"Can I tell you something?" I asked.

"Of course." He nodded.

"You're always giving me these talks about how you love me and how you want to be with me, and I feel like I don't give you much in return. I'm shitty at emotions, I know. But I want you to know that I've never loved someone or something so much in my entire life. You make me feel like I'm on top of the world. All the time. You are hands-down the most attractive guy I've ever seen, and I think you know that. But the prize is inside. You're funny, you're sweet, you're sexy.. You love me. That's all I could ever want is your love. The only thing I could ask for. You're my world. Maybe I'm just some dumb girl who hasn't found her path, but you're helping me. You've helped me discover that- that I want you to be with me every step of the way through this journey.  I don't want to leave your side, Jack. Ever. Because I love you."

He stared into my eyes before giving me one of the longest hugs we've ever had.

This is so toxic. If he ever left me, I honestly don't know what the hell I'd do. We've dug a hole so deep. There's no getting out of it.

He released me from the hug and showed me his hand. On his ring finger, I saw a ring similar to mine, except his had the shape of a lock. He turned his hand around, revealing the engraving of a date.

8-16-14.

I looked on the back of mine, seeing the same date.

"The first time I told you I love you."

I stared at the date for a long while. A small tear rushed to my eye and ran down my cheek.

He hugged me. "Don't cry babe."

Well duh I was going to cry. I've never felt this way in my entire life. Stuck in love. Happy. So happy.

"Well this beats any present I've ever gotten. Including the life sized giant bouncy ball I got on my 8th birthday- and I really wanted that." I said.

He laughed. "Oh my god Paige."

"Thank you for this. Honestly, all jokes aside, this is the most meaningful moment I've ever had." I told him.

"I've always wanted to do something like this for you, you know. I'm glad you're happy."

"I'm more than happy. All I need is you." I kissed  him.

"Oh! Hey, another thing. I baked you cookies."

"Jack, what the hell." I covered my face and started laughing.

He stood up and ran to the kitchen, grabbing a plate from the counter. He has no clue how the hell to bake, so I don't think this was his best idea.

He handed me a plate of about 6- wait, are those even cookies?

"What are these?" I asked.

"Cookies.. Well they were suppose to be." He knows I love cookies.

"Did you put them in the oven before you fell asleep?" I laughed a little sarcastically.

I picked up a piece of charcoal- er- 'cookie' from the plate and took a bite.

I laughed so hard that I couldn't even chew the rest of it.

"Jack this tastes like coal."

He took a bite and laughed just as hard as I was. "Dear god, let me take those away from you." He said, putting the plate on the table.

"Well see, they were chocolate, and so I thought they were suppose to get like really dark before they were done."

I pretty much almost started snorting at how funny this was. My 18 year old boyfriend just tried to bake me cookies and ended up with crunchy black blobs.

"So maybe baking isn't your thing?"

"Guess not." He laughed.

After a couple more seconds of laughter, I leaned back into the couch, looking at the ring again. I probably won't ever get over it.

He leaned back into the couch with me.

I held my hand up to his, looking at both of the rings.

He enterlocked his pinky finger with mine.

"Forever. Promise?"

"Forever. I promise." I shook his pinky.
