I shook my head, in anger more than in fear.

"Stop." I demanded. "Now I know that you're lying." My pulse was out of control and the sun coming in from the window was making me sweat.

"I'm not lying." She shook her head.

I felt like I was talking to a mental patient. "What the hell Ava? How do you know?"

"I was being held in some weird place. It was such a blur, but I saw Jack. With Nash."

"That makes no damn sense. You're crazy. Jack loves me."

"I don't know how to tell you anything that's happening in my life without sounding insane. It's truly impossible."

"Just because you 'saw' him in blurry memory of yours with Nash doesn't mean he's helping him or something."

She shook her head. "I'm not trying to pry you away from Jack, really. I'm just warning you."

"If Nash really is the bad guy, and now Cameron too, I guess, what do they want? What are they trying to get from you?"

She sighed. "I can't tell you."

Heat arose to my pink cheeks. "If you can't tell me your shit, I'm not going to help. I thought you were DEAD for months on end, and I learned to accept that. Now I have to accept this. Do you know how hard that is?"

Her eyes never seemed to escape from the glossy state they were in. "I'm sorry." She whispered. "I'm sorry."

"So what do you want me to do? Lose all my friends because you say they're the bad guys? Break up with my boyfriend because he's evil too?" I threw my hands up.

"You don't GET IT!" She almost screamed. She only does this when she's uncontrollably frustrated. Her blonde hair fell in her face. "They're not evil like in the movies or something. They're pretending to be on my side, but they do things to turn it around. They make it seem like bad people are out to get me, but it's them."

I sighed. "Are you okay? Like, did something happen to you?"

She stared at me before becoming offended. "So what? You think I'm crazy?"

"Everything your saying just doesn't make sense. Okay? That's all. It's too much for me to take in."

"Well I hope you've enjoyed talking to me, because after this, I'm probably going to disappear." She said.

"What?" I looked her in the eyes.

"Cameron saw me. He knows I told you. Something bad is going to happen."

I felt like crawling in to a hole and never coming out. Her words aren't sticking into my brain, they're just going in and coming out as nonsense.

I began to cry.

"What's wrong?" She looked at me.

"What's wrong? I don't know what the hell to do. I don't know what you want me to say. I feel like running away."

"Please don't worry about me. They're not going to hurt you. You don't have to say anything. I-I can leave right now if that's what you want."

I looked down. Why does this have to happen to me?

She sat up and opened the car door.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I don't want to stress you out. I've already said too much." She closed the door and started walking away. She went into the back of the McDonalds building. I couldn't tell if she wanted me to come after her or not, but I didn't.

Later that night, I sat on top of the bed waiting for Jack to get home from his meeting. I've been thinking about looking through his stuff for a while now, but I hated being sneaky. If he really is "helping" Nash and Cam like Ava says, there has to be something, right?

I fiddled with my thumbs, shifting my eyes from his boxes to his dresser. I've never actually looked in either of them.

Well, I tried. I gave in and stood up, walking over to the black organizing boxes that were on a shelf. I took the first one down, looked around, and set it on the bed. I took the soft lid off and peeked inside. First, there was a picture of Molly, Laura, David, Katherine, and him at some type of beach. Jack's head was shaved, he was short too- it made me giggle. Underneath that was a red Nebraska hoodie, just like the one I have. It smelt like him. A bunch of random stuff was underneath that. Books, which were probably Jack J's, random notes from his friends, and pictures of him and his family members. It was like a little Omaha memorial basket. I dug through everything feeling guilty as possible.

I took the next one down. When I opened it, it smelt like me. I filed through some pictures of him and I, and noticed a couple of my shirts in here as well. Cards, letters, and souvenirs blinded me. I didn't know he kept everything. I smiled when I saw a picture of us in front of his house in Omaha. He had his arm hanging around me awkwardly, and I smiled like a little nervous child. It's funny because most pictures of us now are ones of us laughing at eachother or teasing.

I looked at the bottom of the box, noticing a little baby-blue box. I've never even seen it before. I picked it up and looked at the bottom, noticing the Tiffany's logo. I shook it, hearing whatever was inside hit the edges. I'm such a horrible person for preparing to open it.. But I did.

Oh. My. God.
