I put on my coat and went to brush my hair. In the reflection of the bathroom mirror, I could see Jack grabbing something from his suitcase. I think he was trying to do it discreetly, but it was beyond obvious.
"What's that?" I asked, running the brush through my hair. He jumped at the sound of my voice and looked up. I giggled at the reaction.
He smiled. "I'll show you tonight." He patted the pocket in which he put the object(s).
"I don't understand. You've never even been to Paris, and you're taking me out? Do you know where we're going?"
"Well one, I'm not a complete idiot. Just a little. So, I called Barbara and asked her about something I wanted to do and she cracked the info. I didn't do it completely by myself, but I did most of the research. I'm not as dumb as you think."
"I don't think you're dumb, dummy!" I smiled. He grinned.
"Yeah, dummy, you've been brushing your hair for like 2 minutes." He smirked and pointed at me.
"Oh yeah." I came to the realization and set the brush down.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
I nodded. "Should I bring anything special? Er, am I dressed for the occasion?" I looked down at my long coat, skinny jeans, and black long sleeve shirt, with a silver necklace laying on top. I shook my black boot at him.
"Perfect. We're not even going to be inside anyways, well maybe just a few times." He shrugged. It seemed as if he only had a vague idea of where the heck we were going.
".. Okay." I hesitantly replied. I picked up my purse and my phone from the bed.
"Don't bring those!" He said. I looked down and noticed his phone was on his suitcase.
"Are we going swimming or something?"
"No." He laughed. "An adventure is an adventure. No phones or anything needed."
I shrugged. I guess I actually kind of agreed with that. I set my things back down on the bed, and off we went.

20 minutes later in the taxi cab, we were being dropped off at a totally unfamiliar place to me. I'd never even been in this part. I saw large brick buildings, trees, and that's pretty much it. It looked like we were in a neighborhood of apartments.
I spoke to the driver in French, saying thank you. He laughed and replied in English. He probably heard me and Jack talking in English on the way here. After, he drove away. We were left in all darkness except for the dimming street lights. I heard a cat meow.
"Jesus Christ, we're going to get killed out here." I whispered.
"Paige. It's fine. I think I know where we're going."
"Bad idea to not bring a phone, like what happens if there's an emergency?" I asked.
He took out a small flip phone from his pocket. "My grandma gave me this when I was like 14. So this should do." He smiled and put it back.
He began walking behind one of the buildings. A few lights illuminated the windows, leading a pathway for us to see where we were walking.
"Hold my hand." He said. I sped up the pace to him and entertwined our hands, his which, was much warmer and rough.
I swung our arms back and forth. We were now walking up a dirty dirt hill with mild grass lightly scattered throughout.
"So.. You gonna say how long it's going to take?"
