EMILY POV
I was managing Hebrews Lounge since I was eighteen years old, a business that I inherited from my great grandma, but now I'm almost 50.
"I hope this suffices to what my boys had done, ma'am," a young manager, perhaps in late 20s or early 30s said as she handed me a cheque with a quite handsome amount. "Thank you for settling this without getting the police involved."
"I already called the police and they're on their way as we speak," I simply said as a I sat still in my office chair.
I work for Redbeats Studio and those boys are our artists. We will do anything huwag lang silang magkaroon ng police record. You know how important it is for young recording artists to have a clean slate, right? Your brother is Dean Morayta and the other kids are from CCM. Perhaps I should talk to him? I think I just saw him while I was on my way up here."
Are you threatening me young lady? Sa tingin mo ba ay kaya akong mandohan ng dean ng CCM sa sarili kong negosyo? Que horror!"
"Ugh, madam hindi po iyon ang ibig kong sabihin," natatawa niyang sabi. "Ang sa akin-"
"You don't get it do you, Miss..." at kinuha ko ang business card niya, "Miss Monique. I'll get the money of course, but I want your boys to learn their lesson, too. Hindi mo pwedeng ituwid ang mali sa pamamagitan lang ng pera. We both saw the CCTV at isa sa mga boys mo ang unang nanuntok. So what are you planning to do about that?"
"Kung 'yun lang po ang inaalala nyo, I can guarantee na may parusang nakalaan para sa mga bata. But please let the studio handle it. Jayson is a very kind and quiet guy. I bet those students from CCM provoked him to do that. Do you think it will benefit the school's reputation if we sue each other? Please.. I don't want to ruin the boys' career just because of some petty fight."
"First of all, it doesn't seem petty to me. They almost tried to kill each other, Miss Monique. Second, what made you think I care about CCM's reputation?" I asked her. "I am more concerned on how you are handling your boys."
Napapikit siya at nagkuyom ng palad, "Mrs. M!" galit niyang sigaw.
Muli akong nagsalita, "What? It seems you are lost for words, Miss Monique! Dr. Jordan, the CEO of your company happened to be an amigo. Perhaps, I should talk to him about this?"
"Dr. Jordan?" Nanlaki ang mga mata niya sa narinig. "You're kidding me..." hindi niya makapaniwalang sabi.
"Okay. I get it Mrs. M," she said and let out a deep sigh. "I'm really sorry for what my boys did and I'll make sure this won't happen again. The blame is on me dahil hindi ko sila naturuan ng maayos."
She waited for me to respond but when I didn't she continue, "I just want you to know na nagsisimula pa lamang ang mga bata sa career nila and there is so much more that they can achieve. What if kumalat ang balita at makarating pa sa media? It will be the end for them."
"Your apology sounds half-hearted but nonetheless I'll accept it," I responded. "As long as you can guarantee that you will teach your boys well, then we have nothing more to talk about."
