Taylor was hiding.

The internet had blown up in her face, threats, rumours, people wanting to 'cancel' her. Nashville seemed safe, her bedroom in her mother's house. Sure, she had her own, but why stay there when the comfort was here.

It had been almost two months since she had heard from Jo after that day they wrote together, and her and Tom had flushed away almost all feelings since then and were hanging on by a thread to see if the other would extend a saving hand or let it fall out completely.

Taylor could tell the end was coming, especially because he loved to go out and have his picture taken and greet fans, and all she wanted to do was burrow into her covers, sit there for a hundred years and wait for the world to forget that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had manipulated a conversation they had to make her look like the bad guy.

The year sucked, and she didn't believe it would get any better.

Taylor had shut off most everything, notifications, calls. It seemed as though she had forgotten one though, because when her phone buzzed rapidly as she was staring at the wall aimlessly, it was exactly what she needed to hear that day.

jocollins: TAYLOR

jocollins: THANK YOU

jocollins: I GOT A RECORD DEAL

jocollins: AJAHAHAHSHAJAJAHHASHJAHA

How could Taylor not love that?

Respond to that*

taylorswift: BUDDYYYYY

taylorswift: I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!

taylorswift: CONGRATULATIONS!

taylorswift: Send me your demo? I want to hear it :)

jocollins: I had 3 offers! 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I literally am texting you on the sidewalk of the studio cause I just signed it. I will send it to you when I get home tomorrow. What's your number?

taylorswift: Haha I love that for you! 615-555-0713

jocollins: Awesome, thanks again for your help. Also, this may sound weird but we're having a party tomorrow night at my house to celebrate. It will be just my family, my friend Rachel and her son and maybe you? You don't have to come because I know you're insanely busy and awesome but I don't think this would've happened without you so if you want to come let me know and I'll send you the address.

jocollins: I live on a Military base though so you'll need to tell me ahead of time so I can make sure they will let you in.

taylorswift: Honestly I have jury duty tomorrow morning lmao. If I get excused I would love to come. Text me the address and I'll let you know :)

jocollins: Sounds great, thanks again!

The next day, Jo was standing in her living room with her grandmother, who had flown in from Pennsylvania with her grandfather to celebrate.

The very homophobic, old fashioned, grandparents.

"Charlotte," Jo heard Johnathon Abernathy, her maternal grandfather begin from the armchair by the unlit fireplace, "Would you be a dear and get me a coffee?"
