"Can you turn that up a little?" Jo asked, adjusting the headphones on her head. She waited until it played again, clearing her throat before singing the background vocal once more.

She was in the studio with one of her producers, who had helped her co-write the song she was currently recording. She was hoping her label approved it because she adored it so far.

"My grandparents would hate that," Jo chuckled as she slipped them off, walking out of the booth to meet Justin where all the switches and equipment were.

"Religious?" He inquired, making an adjustment on the computer screen as to where the addition would be placed.

"Oh yeah," she confirmed, "They cut me off when I came out, haven't said a word to me since."

"I'm sorry to hear that," he frowned softly, "At least your dad is supportive, you know? I have a gay cousin, actually here in New York, if you're interested."

"No, I'm not on the market. My girlfriend is waiting at home," Josephine quickly turned down the offer, finally getting the man's attention.

"This song is actually about someone?" He looked surprised.

"Yes, of course it is. Is that not something people do?" She replied without hesitation, taking a seat on the sofa against the wall.

He shrugged a little bit, "I mean, a lot of artists do. Especially artists like Taylor Swift, a lot of country singers, too. Pop nowadays, though... it's a lot of the motions."

Jo snorted at the mention of Taylor, quickly correcting herself, "Sorry. Uhm, yeah, I get what you mean. But no, this one's from me, not some idea."

"Anyways, listen to this. I think it's great."

Two hours later, after the finishing touches were made and the track was sent off to Josephine's management team for approval, Jo walked into the Cornelia Street apartment and found Taylor in the kitchen in her pyjama's. Her hair was pulled up, face bare, glasses on. She looked cozy, like she'd spent the entire day painting watercolours and listening to Christmas tunes.

"Baby, I'm back," Jo set down her bag and phone on the counter, stepped towards the stove and wrapped her arms around Taylor's waist before the blonde could even set down the spoon and turn around.

"Hey," Taylor smiled and settled into Jo's embrace, "I'm makin' chicken noodle soup. You wanna try?"

"I would love to try it but I have to try something else first," Jo kissed Taylor deeply and bit her bottom lip to tease, "Mm, yeah that's still really good."

"You bit me!" Taylor laughed and shrugged Jo away, swatting her shoulder with one hand as she ran her finger along her lip to check for blood with the other.

"I know! Okay, let me try it. You want criticism or praise?" Jo inquired, knowing it probably wasn't criticism if Taylor hadn't changed out of her pyjamas yet.

"Uh, just tell me if it tastes good or not," Taylor blushed, holding a spoon out to Jo.

Jo dipped it in and blew on the hot liquid, letting it sit on her tongue for a moment, "That is amazing, baby."

"You mean it?" Taylor smiled, her blue eyes glimmering in the light.

"Just as much as I do when I tell you that I'm in love with you," Jo set the spoon into the sink and pressed a kiss to Taylor's forehead before turning to her bag and pulling out a flash drive, "I got you a present."

"A flash drive!" Taylor took it from Jo's hand and shuffled off to her computer on the coffee table in the living room, plugging it in. She was overly enthusiastic, knowing it was music because she had spent enough time in the industry to know what to assume when someone brought a flash drive home from the studio.
