Summer came and went, both girl were busier than ever. Jo had rehearsals, meetings, fittings, and so on. She had to get Flynn the dog ready to go with her and spend a couple days with her Dad before she headed on the road. Even squeezing in a day to take her godson Calum to the aquarium with Rachel.
Taylor was heavily promoting her latest album release, Lover. She had concerts, interviews, tour planning, and a music video shoot that Jo was able to tag along for. It felt like they were two very separate planets for a while, spinning on an axis that allowed them to collide rarely, for one or two days off every few weeks.
Eventually the day arrived where Jo's things were loaded onto her tour bus, her bags were stuffed full and her heart was heavy with the feeling of having to leave.
"I'm gonna miss you so bad," Jo mumbled against Taylor's shoulder in a tight embrace. Security was going to escort her downstairs, but the men had stepped out to allow them to say a proper goodbye.
"I'll see you in a few weeks, New York," the blonde cooed in response. She had no idea about Jo's plans for their anniversary trip yet, but she would soon enough, "Text me when you get into every city and after every show. Call me before bed."
"I promise," Jo agreed, stealing one last kiss before she had to leave. Taylor stood in the hallway as the brunette walked down the hall, trying to keep a smile on her face so that neither of them would cry. She knew all it would take would be one single tear to get them both going.
"I love you!" Taylor shouted last minute. She couldn't believe they had forgotten to say it during their goodbyes. With so many things on the mind, it wasn't that surprising, however.
"I love you!" Jo waved as the elevator doors closed in front of her. She let her shoulders down and sighed, looking at Gabriel, "I miss her."
"You will be fine, miss," he chuckled.
"I will be fine, but I will still miss her."
Jo arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina later in the day and checked into her hotel room. She didn't unpack, she never did. Usually she'd get in late, crash in the bed almost immediately after showering and get ready in the venue the next day, but since the first show wasn't until the next day, she had to find a way to pass the time.
Tiktok was a very good solution for her. The singer scrolled aimlessly for a while until she stumbled across the Taylor Swift hashtag, humming happily as she started down the rabbit hole.
Taylor was doing an interview in the apartment that day, a reporter was to come over and talk to her about the album and what had been going on over the past few years. Taylor for the first time, didn't hide the pictures of them together when having someone who wasn't on their teams or a friend over, leaving their home untouched except for the normal cleaning.
Jo didn't know if she would answer, but she still sent her a text to follow up her first that said she made it to the hotel.
Jo Collins: Just wanted to let you know that you're hot ❤️
That was the entire text, she continued her browsing until she hit the slightly off putting section that had a bunch of videos of people dissecting their relationship, calling it fake or trying to convince others of things that had never happened.
She sighed with boredom, looking at the time on the alarm clock across the room on the dresser. There was a small mini fridge too, not that she would open it. They charged a fortune for even the water at most hotels and they wouldn't get her with their trap.
Not that it mattered, because she had more than enough to afford the water. It was principle.
In true fashion for a hotel room on tour, Jo got up from the bed and unzipped her suitcases back pocket. She pulled out the vibrator and untied her sweatpants before she opened her phone case and pulled out the picture of Taylor with the tips of her hair dyed red, the corners of the picture were curling and the image had faded from the heat of the cellphone against it all of the time.
