"Would you please hurry up?" Taylor begged as she stood on the patio stones next to the grass in the backyard of their Los Angeles home. She turned to look at Jo who was standing between the two sides of the sliding door, a look of frustration on her face.
"He can't hear you," Jo reminded the blonde as she gestured at the large breed dog. They really needed him to do his business and he had decided that it was the perfect day to take his sweet time.
"I know," Taylor groaned, standing with her hands on her hips, "We have a long drive, I don't want him to not pee before we go but he's taking forever."
"He'll pee soon, he's probably just shy."
"Should we turn around?" Taylor questioned. She did in fact turn around to face Jo, the brunette sporting an amused grin.
"No, darling, I was teasing you. He always sniffs the whole section of that yard before he'll go, give him time."
"I love him but he's delaying our plans."
"We will survive," Jo stepped forward and cupped Taylor's cheeks lovingly. Taylor smiled weakly and hummed in response, reaching up to gently wrap her hand around Jo's wrist.
The couple had never done a road trip together and they felt like it would be safer for them and others to do so instead of flying to Nashville on the private jet that would require a large crew. They packed snacks and drinks, pretty much everything they would need to keep their distance besides the hotel rooms and they had chosen places that had good ratings for their COVID-19 safety measures.
A few minutes later, Flynn was placed in the backseat next to the three cat carriers and some luggage. They didn't need to bring much, the cooler was the biggest thing besides a small box of notebooks that Jo insisted must travel with them.
"Oh my god! You made me car coffee!" Taylor was extremely excited to see the glittery purple travel cup sitting in the cupholder on the passenger side.
Jo nodded as she took a seat behind the wheel, getting the sunglasses from the holder of the large SUV and sliding them onto her face, "I really wanted you to complain less, baby."
"You're amazing," Taylor took a sip and sighed happily, "It's perfect."
"I'm glad, will it keep you entertained for an hour?" Jo teased as her seatbelt clicked. She glanced at Flynn in the rear view mirror and was pleased to see that he laid down with his snout against Meredith's carrier door, probably bothering the hell out of her.
"Maybe half," Taylor replied, stirring it with the straw through the lid. She took another sip and set it down, "Music time."
"Can you set up the GPS first please?" Jo knew how to get to the freeway but she did need assistance for afterwards and Taylor was so much better with the touchscreen than she was.
"M'kay," Taylor agreed, "I don't even remember the last time we were alone in a car together and not just waiting for the driver to get in."
"I think it was when we lived in Pennsylvania," Jo murmured the response as she shifted into reverse and hit the button on the sun visor to open the gate.
"You weren't even famous yet."
"Please don't ever call me famous," Jo laughed, shaking her head when her shoulders raised with discomfort.
"But you are. You're really talented and I'm not just saying that because I'm biased, I thought you were really talented before I had great big heart eyes for you."
"I appreciate that, it's just like, not a comfortable word. You're going to make me worried that we'll get mugged pumping gas."
"Just take Flynn with you, scary dog privilege."
