Three days had passed since Jo's unfortunate run in with Kennedy, and she had shut down. She managed a meal and a snack a day, graciously prepared by her father because he could tell she was struggling, and for majority of the rest of the time, she laid in bed watching Netflix or sometimes replying to Taylor's messages.
It was the third day when Taylor truly got concerned, because she'd been there before and she was worried about her girlfriend. She got on her plane and made the somewhat short trip to the Las Vegas area after a concerned text from Billy arrived on her Home Screen.
He had asked if Jo had said anything to her about what she'd been doing, worried out of his mind because she'd never become so recluse before, not even after her mother's death.
Times had changed though, and Jo was terrified of leaving the house or looking outside, scared she'd be around.
Taylor arrived at the home and knocked on the door, her security watching from the car. Charlie answered and hugged the blonde, "Hey, she's still upstairs."
"Has she come downstairs, yet?" Taylor asked before pursing her lips, she hadn't even heard Jo's voice in days, always claiming she was just so busy she couldn't call. She had been lying to protect Taylor while she was working.
"No, she doesn't usually leave her room until the afternoon. I don't know how she's peeing."
"She's probably dehydrated," Taylor frowned, "Can I get a bottle of water and go up to see her?"
"We didn't ask you to come for no reason," Charlie agreed, gesturing towards the kitchen for Taylor to do what she pleased. At that point, the three people in Jo's support system would have done anything to help her feel better and get out of bed.
The singer climbed the stairs and knocked on the door softly, slowly turning the handle and opening it. Jo hadn't locked it since the day before when Charlie came in and laid with her for a couple hours, silently making her not feel so alone.
"Jo?" Taylor cooed gently. The brunette's back was towards the door, her eyes open but her stare mostly blank.
She turned her head abruptly, startled by Taylor's surprise appearance and immediately burst into tears, not able to say anything. Part of her knew she had fell down so far, but the other part of her was so glad Taylor turned up for her when she needed it.
"Oh, sweetheart," Taylor tried to control her emotions, dropping her things on the small desk and climbing into the bed without another word. She pulled Jo to her chest and carefully embraced around her shoulders and head, letting her cry.
Jo cried for a few minutes while Taylor shushed her warmly and rubbed her back, finally breaking the wall of emotions she had built up.
"It's okay, you're safe," Taylor kept whispering, her lips leaving kisses along Jo's temple instinctively. She laid there with the younger girl for what felt like forever, heartbeat drumming in her ears with emotion.
Jo eventually regained some composure and unravelled her arms from the blanket, wrapping them around Taylor's waist and holding onto her tightly. Her face was pressed into Taylor's neck, hiding her red eyes from the superstar.
"S'okay, baby," Taylor murmured sweetly, tucking a stand of messy hair behind Jo's ear, "I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere."
"I- I was so scared," Jo finally spoke. She hadn't made a huge deal of everything over the phone to Taylor, scared she'd cause her to worry too much or frighten her, but she really had been through it the last few days.
