Jo had finally been released from quarantine after recovering from the virus, being allowed to return to the United States where she flew into Los Angeles and rushed home as quickly as possible. She avoided stopping on the way, kept the privacy screen up between her and her driver and had no security to accompany her on the trip, taking no chances of bringing it home or spreading it around.
The gates of the home opened and Jo got her bags out of the trunk, taking a moment to stare at the house with relief. She never particularly loved the Los Angeles home, but it was somewhere she and Taylor as stayed before Charlie moved in and they relocated to Nashville, so it still felt like a warm hug to her.
"You coming in?" Taylor called from the door, bringing Jo back from where she had accidentally zoned out. Josephine nodded, a smile slowly crawling up her cheeks as she laid eyes on the blonde singer.
"Hi, you," Jo squeezed her tight and lifted her girlfriend slightly. She couldn't taste or smell anything, and she was extremely disappointed that she couldn't find comfort in Taylor's shampoo or perfume scent.
"I missed you, baby," Taylor murmured into the embrace, finding her footing as Jo set her back down a few inches.
"I'm home," Jo replied, "Have you been okay?"
"Yeah," Taylor said with a soft smile, reaching up to touch Jo's cheeks with her hands, "I'm really, really happy that you're here and safe."
"Me too," Jo agreed, "Hey, where's Charlie?"
"She's sleeping, we stayed up late watching Tiger King on Netflix and she tried to stay awake for you but she fell asleep on the couch," Taylor chuckled, blushing at how Jo didn't even seem to be listening but instead searching the blue eyes in front of her for something.
There was a short pause before Jo replied to Taylor's answer, "You look more beautiful than when I last saw you. Look at your hair, sweetheart! You've got little curly bangs, and your eyes are just glimmering so pretty right now. I want to kiss you so badly."
"You can kiss me, they said you're probably not contagious anymore, it's been more than two weeks," Taylor told the brunette, smirking when she felt Jo's hands wander towards her butt now that the driver had pulled out and they were definitely alone.
"Get your hands off my sister's ass!" Charlie called from the doorway of the house.
"What the fuck?!" Jo jumped at the yelling, "She's not touching my ass, you ass!"
"I'm talking to you! I like her better!" The younger brunette padded across the driveway and hugged Jo, "I'm not sorry for interrupting that."
"I figured," Jo laughed, returning the embrace, "It's good to see you, I'm glad you're here."
"It's just like the good old days," Charlotte responded. Taylor hummed and scratched the back of her neck, "There is a surprise for you inside the house, though."
"Oh really? Did you add to your toilet paper hoard?"
"You told her?!" Charlie looked at Taylor with an offended glare.
"Of course I did," Taylor scoffed. Charlie rolled her eyes and headed for the door.
"What? You not going to help me bring in my bags?"
"Nope. Have Austin do it."
"Austin?" Jo whipped her head around at Taylor, unsure if that was a joke or not.
The blonde bit her lip nervously and shrugged to try and downplay it, "He got lonely...?"
"It's fine, I just wasn't expecting it," Jo reassured the older woman. Taylor exhaled in relief and waved for him to stop staring at them through the curtains.
