A few days didn't seem like a few days anymore. It had gotten to the point where Jo had run out of clothes and had to do a load of laundry, and then borrow a few items from Taylor's closet to tide her over. Weeks passing by like nothing.
She just never seemed like she was going to leave, and honestly that was okay. Taylor had gone out to the gym that morning and came back, Jo was in the kitchen making her a post workout snack with a pair of headphones in.
That evening, they had been sitting on the couch with two glasses of wine, the cork laid out on the coffee table next to the open bottle when the brunette set her glass down and pulled her hair into a ponytail, tying it up with the elastic on her wrist.
"So Charlie really did lock herself in the closet for six hours before your dad found her?" Taylor laughed, her entire chest moving with it. Jo nodded, joining Taylor with a small laugh as she stood up.
"Yeah, she just sat quietly. Now she's so claustrophobic that it would be about four seconds before he found her, but she's also not seven anymore," the younger of the two replied, moving towards the doorway that led to the kitchen, "Hey, baby? Do you want anything while I'm up?"
Woah.
"I'm okay," Taylor said softly, gulping as Jo turned around and headed up the stairs. She took another sip of the red wine in her hand, staring at it while processing what had just slipped out of the brunette's mouth.
Was that on purpose? She was so chill about it!
Jo came back with a sweater on, the kind that zipped about two thirds of the way from the bottom right up to the neck. It was grey and soft, fuzzy looking.
"Taylor... I didn't mean to call you that because I know we make out sometimes but like... ahhh?" Jo said flatly, hiding her discomfort behind the monotone voice she was using.
"I— uhm," Taylor swallowed dryly, looking away to make herself more comfortable, "I kinda liked it."
"Oh cool... anyways I grabbed you a pair of headphones. I don't know why, oh wow. I just didn't want to show up empty handed, I think my head is dead? I need to sit down, how much wine have we had?" Jo sat next to the blonde and massaged her temples firmly, looking at the floor while her elbows rested against her knees.
"Not enough," Taylor tipped her head back, letting it fall into her throat carelessly. Jo leaned with her back to the couch then, just as Taylor started to move after putting the empty glass down.
The blonde placed one leg over Jo's and sat on her lap, hands delicately set on her shoulders. She scooted closer a little, chest to chest before she cupped the younger girl's cheeks.
"Can I help you?" Jo spoke softly, this wasn't the first time that something like this had happened but it definitely was still new and strange.
"May I kiss you?" Taylor whispered, her blue eyes fixated upon the pink lips a few inches in front of her. Josephine moved forward and sealed the deal, her hands placed on Taylor's hips cautiously, respectful of the unspoken invisible line drawn between them.
Always before things got heated, that was when it stopped. It was as if they were test driving something they shared, both unsure of what it meant or even where it was going. Highly addictive, a pure rush that lasted a whole of ten to fifteen minutes at most.
But this time it was different, because when Taylor felt Jo pull away she mumbled, "No."
Taylor's warm breath hit Jo's face, trying to recapture their normal lung capacities while the blonde positioned herself closer to Josephine again.
