Taylor leaned backwards as to not squish Jo's phone between them, Jo picked it up and read Billy's name on the screen, curious as to why he'd be calling outside of their usual time.

Her heart sunk with fear, worried he was going to be deployed, transferred, or even something had happened to him or Charlie.

"Sorry," Jo said softly to Taylor for ruining the moment, not even realizing her ringer had been on that whole time. She answered the call and pulled it up to her ear, although Taylor could still hear the voice due to proximity, "Hello?"

"Hey, pal, there's a- uh- sorry, what was it again?" A short pause was heard before Bill continued, "A Kennedy, here for you. Said she went to Nevada State with you, you know her?"

"Uhm— yeah, I did. Why's she there? We haven't talked in years," Jo gulped.

"Said something 'bout you being the one that got away or some horseshit. If you don't know her I'll get her to leave, she just wanted to know how to get in touch with you."

"Yeah, no. Please don't give her my number or anything, and I'm not sure if it's really her. Maybe tell the gates to not let anyone in you don't verify from now on, Dad. You don't know who's gonna turn up," Jo sighed, worried about her family's safety now that she'd become somewhat of an overnight sensation.

"Okay, kiddo. Good song by the way, I'll give you a call a little later, stay out of trouble," the soldier chuckled at his own teasing and ended the call.

Taylor, who had been completely eavesdropping the entire time, began as soon as she could, "Who is Kennedy?"

Jo knew that was coming.

"Kennedy... is my old fling from college. You remember when we wrote Exile together and you looked through my sexy song book? That was Kennedy," Jo pursed her lips together, hoping Taylor wouldn't react negatively to the information provided.

"And why is Kennedy at your doorstep?" Taylor hummed, rubbing her palm along Jo's shoulder while steadying herself with the other.

"I think Kennedy was hoping I'd want something to do with her now that I'm on the radio," Jo rolled her eyes before she fixed her girlfriends top that had shifted under her hands.

"Is she pretty? Was she good in bed? Why'd you stop seeing her? Blonde?" Taylor rattled off, her heart rate going faster than she would've appreciated it to be.

"Taylor, my love, I—" Jo pecked her lips, "Am—" Again, "All yours."

"Still didn't answer my questions," the blonde pouted.

"She was pretty back then, I haven't seen her since I was nineteen though. I'm ignoring your question about the sex because it will never compare to sex with you and it's completely invalid considering I found out the night I was gonna ask her to be my girlfriend that she was sleeping with both halves of a married couple and her professor. I got upset, ended up leaving school, blocking her number, yada yada," the brunette confessed.

She'd been living in Nevada for so long that she'd been able to actually form relationships with people she'd usually been afraid to before, but it had backfired and she'd almost wished Billy had gotten transferred so she could start over. Thankfully he wasn't, because Jo went on to meet Rachel and her other less close friends, but it was always something that destroyed her when she thought about it. She was thankful that fate let them stay in the Vegas area for so long, it meant she got to meet Taylor.

"So Kennedy is your what could've been?" Taylor spoke quietly, seeing the pain in Jo's eyes. She wasn't jealous, necessarily, but she didn't like seeing her girlfriend upset, that hurt.
