CHAPTER 28

(Athena's POV)

I'm sitting on the couch in my parents' room. It has been a few hours since they freshened up, had some food. And now, here I am, waiting for the impending lecture. My mom looks at me and then at my dad, slightly nervous.

My dad finally decides to start, "Athena, you know that all of our actions are with you in our mind and with the best intentions. Yes?"

"Yes dad" I sigh. I know where this is heading.

"You cannot be serious about Victor. You've known him for only a few days. Now, I am not going to control you and tell you what you have to or what you should not do. But we want you to make an informed decision" he says waiting for me to say something, but I don't choose to, I mean what can I say, 'Dad Victor is a werewolf and there is this concept of soulmates among werewolves and I am his mate.' NO. Their first reaction would be to ship me off this place to a psychiatrist.

"Look Athena, you have no experience of being in a relationship. So, this could be just an infatuation, and you may get your heart broken later. I am not saying that Victor is a bad person, but to him you may not be the one and we just don't want you to get hurt. Also, whether you and your mom agree with me or not, I still have my doubts about who attacked you. Unless someone is found guilty, I will still have suspicions on Victor, he may be after our money for all we know and you are an only child and he could have successfully tricked you into thinking that he is some kind of a knight in shining armor."

"Dad!" I exclaim.

"Roger! That is just so rude, he saved our daughter's life and got hurt in the process, how can you say something like that about him. I don't think he is after money, he too is rich just like us. Haven't you seen the way he looks at Athena, its filled with adoration. That is not acting. They could really be a great couple, why don't we let Athena make the decision. It's her life" my mom tries to reason.

"Exactly my point Ruth, he saved Athena, so why don't we all say our thanks and leave. You don't have to give your heart to him in return, there is nothing else to do other than being grateful to him. Also, Athena you are traumatized by Betty's death. This is a weak moment for you, even if Victor is genuinely interested in you, and only wants you for who you are, your judgement can still be clouded by all the disturbing events that happened a few days back. You lost Betty and her fiancé for god's sake; you haven't had the time to process whatever is going on around you." My dad sighs, he looks so tired and continues, "So, all I am asking of you Athena is not to take any big or important decision that may affect your future. Can you do that for me? For us?" he almost pleads and I agree, "Yes dad, I won't make any hasty decisions."

(Victor's POV)

"Alpha, we may have found something about the chair case." Z runs into my office. He pushes an envelope to me and I open it to see some pictures of my ancestors and I really don't understand.

"What?" I ask him, Z says "I will explain but I want to ask Luna's dad for a picture of Mr. Augustus Crimson"

I agree and Z returns after speaking with Roger. It seems that Roger's assistant back at their house has been assigned the task of getting some photos and sending us snaps of it.

Meanwhile I call my parents and tell them how I found my mate and my mom couldn't wait to get the next flight to come back to see Athena. But my dad, calmed her down and I told them about the other events and they were really upset. They said they will come back as soon as possible and help. I wanted them to enjoy their vacation, but, one – they won't listen to me; and two – I honestly could use their help in speaking to witch covens and the elders. So far, my efforts have not yielded any results, maybe my parents can get it right.

"Now what is this all about Z?" I ask as I go through these pictures that he gave me.

The photos are of my great grandparents, grandparents and so on. I can understand that Z wants me to look at my great grandmother who has supposedly received the rocking chair from Mr. Augustus. But there has to be more to it.
