CHAPTER 41

(Athena's POV)

I woke up this morning to see, Victor holding my face in his palms, 'Good morning love'

Wait a minute. His lips didn't move. But it was his voice definitely.

"Are you ventriloquizing?" I ask confused.

'No babe.. I am mindlinking you' he tells chuckling.

"What the hell?" I ask shocked and get up. "Are you serious? I thought humans cant..."

"You can link only me, because I marked you. Maybe after the luna ceremony you can try linking other people in the pack" he tells me excitedly.

"Okay, so teach me how to do it" I ask him.

"Just focus on the connection between us... on the bond... and try to speak." He tells me.

I try to concentrate, and tell him that I love him.

"Did you get it?" I ask

"No love, it will take a few trials..." he tells me.

(Victor's POV)

"Try again" I tell Athena. Since morning I have been teaching her to mindlink. It was a bit of a surprise to her when I linked her this morning.

'Vic—Love'

"I heard you!" I exclaim.

"Really? Tell me what I said." she asks me.

"I heard 'Vic' and 'Love', not the whole sentence, but it's a good start. What were you trying to say?"

"Victor, I Love You" Athena tells me.

I kiss her on her forehead, "I love you too sweetheart. Keep trying, and it will become easier soon."

I asked Athena's mom and my mom to accompany her in our floor. They just arrived, and now I will be leaving to go to my office. I have made it a point, to ensure that Athena always stays with me or with her or my parents.

"Love, I will be in my office if you need me. Lock the doors behind me. Shall I leave?" I ask her hesitantly.

I don't want to leave her here. I was planning to take her to the office with me. But we are going to discuss about the plan to lure Lucius, and I don't want her to stress. So, I thought it will be better if she spends some time with her mom and mine.

"Yes, but come back soon" she tells as she hugs me.

Ruth chuckles and my mom comes to me, "Victor, we will keep your mate safe and happy, and give her back to you when you return. Now go and do your work"

"Okay mom" I laugh and wave good bye to them. I hear my mom saying to Athena as she closes the door behind me, "Athena, you have my son whipped!"

That is true... I am a lovesick wolf.

I am in my office with Z, my dad and Mr. Crimson. We have been discussing various methods of luring Lucius and attacking him. But none of it is perfect. It almost always has a loop hole. We are still coming up with ideas, but I am not happy with any of it. I am glad that Mr. Crimson is not giving me cold shoulder any more. Thanks to the explanation about werewolves and the concept of soulmates.

After some time, we come to the conclusion that it is better to put up defense and wait till that bloodsucker shows up. We have no other choice. It is the best course of action that we can take as of now. But other than that, we have prepared our pack for worst case scenario – A Battle. Tomorrow's the third day – the deadline, and I'm assuming Lucius and/or his men will come tomorrow after dusk. We have home ground advantage and I plan to use it fully.

I also spoke with the Council of Super-naturals and we have acquired permission to take him down, if he attacks us first. No one will tolerate threats to the Alpha, Luna or his family. It was easier to get the approval mainly because of his early reputation.

I know, Lucius will expect me not to give in to his to demands and may also expect the defense we may put up. So, I have a few tricks up my sleeve.
