CHAPTER 36

(Victor's POV)

"Z, get our warriors ready. Tighten security. No one can enter or exit the pack without permission. Close the resort, and shift the existing guests to some other hotel. Give them some coupon for future stay, as compensation. No one new must enter our pack boundaries. And arrange for Craig to be sent back to the Brave pack" I tell him.

"Okay Alpha" Z nods.

"Alpha, what if someone spots Lucius, do we have permission to attack him on spot or should we just restrain him?" Z asks.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves Z. Lucius is an ancient vampire. We don't know if he has other vampires helping him or if he has recruited private assassins. We will need to be more careful. We can contact the witches for help, you know, to create some shield over the pack if possible" my dad suggests.

"I think he works with private assassins. He didn't speak with Max directly, but effectively blackmailed him with a team. Max told us that he got calls from different numbers and one time, someone said to Max that he has to follow the Lord's order. Max didn't know who the Lord is. But we do now. We need to be very cautious." I tell them and Z takes leave.

"Dad can you talk to the witches?"

"Sure son, go to your mate. It will help you relax a bit."

"Thanks dad" I tell as I hug him.

(Athena's POV)

I wake up startled after hearing the bedroom door banging close. Its Victor. He looks disheveled. Eyes completely dark and his shoulders are visibly shaking. I can tell he is trying hard to control his wolf. But what happened to trigger this behavior?

I sit up and extend my hands, reaching out for him, "Victor"

He quickly comes near me and hugs me tight. His breathing heavy, with occasional growls and I sit there enjoying his embrace. It is slightly surprising that I am not scared of him or his wolf. I feel safe and secure with him, no matter how frightening he looks. After sometime he pulls away and looks at me, his eyes now normal. I also notice that he is not shaking anymore.

"What happened?"

"You remember Craig? The guy who tried to strangle you at the resort, when we first met" he asks and I nod.

How can I forget that incident?

"He is a criminal who was trying to escape, and after we caught him at the restaurant Cream and Candy, he was transported from our pack to a neighboring pack for his sentencing. Few days before he escaped and we had to tighten security. To be honest, it was one of the reasons why I wanted us to move here – the top floor. This place has more security and not everyone can walk in just like that" Victor says.

"Why didn't you tell me that? I would have agreed readily if it was about security." I ask him.

"I didn't tell you because, one – I didn't want you to worry; two – I figured you might agree gladly if I mentioned about the security stuff. But I didn't want to cloud your judgement like that. Even if you didn't want to move here, I would have managed somehow by adding more security etc., In my heart I know I want to move in with you, and it's not for security reasons. So, I wanted you to make a decision based on how you felt. I wanted to know if you wanted to actually move in with me" he tells me as he takes my hand and places it on his chest.

I chuckle, "You're right. I'm glad that you didn't trick me into moving with you by talking about safety requirements. But I do remember you trying to bait me by mentioning the closet" I say wiggling my eyebrows.

"Yes, I may have mentioned it. But you didn't get swayed love. You are not after materialistic things. I don't know what I did to deserve you." He tells me, our foreheads touching.

"No Victor, I am blessed to have you... So, did they catch Craig?"

His eyes darken again and his demeanor begins to change, "Yes we found him outside our pack borders, tied up and I have asked Z to ship him back to the Brave pack."

"Okay..." I drag unsure where this is going.

"We found a letter with him. It was from that bloodsucker Lucius."

"What?" I scream.

This is getting too real for my liking.

"The letter said that we can take Craig as a peace offering and in exchange asked us to give you up. He has given us 3 days to decide." Victor tells his claws and fangs extending, his body shaking all over again.

Is he going to? Will he?
