CHAPTER 10

(Victor's POV)

The pack police and Z surround us... Z starts yelling orders and supports me to stand. "You're bleeding" she whimpers. I turn to look at Athena who by the looks is in the state of panic and shock. My men run around and are checking every corner that has a shooting range. I hear another shot and Athena screams... I tighten my grip on her arm and look at her to see if she's alright. She is alright. Z tells me, "Alpha I just got mind linked that the sniper has been shot dead by our police and the doctor will be here any minute."

"Why don't we take him down to the clinic? why are we still in an open space when people are shooting us and what the hell is mind linking?" she asks Z. My mate, is already taking lead and acting like a Luna, my chest swells with pride.

I cannot stand any longer and get down to my knees, my vision starts to blur. Normally a flesh wound shouldn't bother me, but this damn bullet might have just hit my heart or lungs, god knows I didn't pay attention in biology. "Let's get him moving Z, do something! answer me!" she yells at my beta who is taken aback by her authority. "Listen to your Luna, Z" I tell Z, and his eyes widen. I look at Athena who looks afraid, angry and confused at the same time if that is even possible. "Don't leave me Athena" I say, before everything goes black.

(Athena's POV)

I see the doctor making his way into the protective circle of the pack police. He starts checking Victor and I exhale. I didn't know I had held my breath. I have this unexplainable pain and sadness in my chest I cannot explain. Not now Athena, I tell myself. He told me not to leave his side. For some reason I felt I won't, even though I have the liberty to leave. Why was he referring to me as Luna? Earlier when we were having dinner he asked 'how's the food love?'

Love?

I look at him lying down on the floor motionless, while the doctor is injecting him with something. My heart aches seeing him hurt. I am a sensitive person but the amount of pain I feel for him is not what I expected, since it was just our first date and I barely knew him. I was attracted to him, but was it something more? I have so many unanswered questions and I catch Z looking at me with respect as if he was waiting for me to say something. I look away to see that they are putting Victor on a stretcher. He was still holding my wrist. I try to pull free. He lets out a growl and opens his eyes to stare into my eyes. To tell I was shocked by the growl will be an understatement.

"Relax Alpha, Luna is not going anywhere" Z said, I was still too shocked to realize what was happening. The doctor came near me, "Luna, please don't leave his hand, but..." he turned to Victor who held my gaze and said "Alpha you need to shift, the bullet has gone deep and only your wolf can keep you stable, reduce the blood loss and heal you quicker."

What are these people even talking about?

{For those of you wondering how shifting into his wolf while he is severely hurt will help Victor... If the pack doctor wants the Alpha to shift to keep him stable and heal quicker, then there is good reason to it. After all, its a magical world where all human logic goes out of the window.}
