CHAPTER 35

(Athena's POV)

I can't think of anything to say, while Z takes the letter from me and reads it. I can hear my dad and mom asking questions, something related to werewolves. Maybe because, Agatha had written that I will be destined a mate in the Cage pack. They must have connected the dots. I want to ease the situation but I just cannot seem to concentrate.

"I will handle this" Victor says.

I nod and get lost in my own thoughts.

How? Why? I just cannot seem to get out of that loop. Agatha lived in 1940s and has had premonition abilities. So, it runs in my family. The man who was after her is still after me. To top it off he is a vampire and I have a strong feeling that this man is the one that tries to kill me in my nightmares. No not a feeling, I am sure. It has to be him.

So, it will come true. I was always calming myself after that nightmare, by telling that it is just a dream. But no. What will I do? What will Victor say?

I hear Victor and his parents telling my parents that they are werewolves and stuff about soulmates.

But I am stuck in a loop.

What is going to happen?

After sometime, I feel someone tugging my arm. Victor. He pulls me to go with him and I follow, I turn to look at my parents still speaking to Z and Victor's parents.

We reach our floor, and go inside our room. He makes me sit on the bed, setting up pillows for my back.

"Everything will be okay" Victor tells me and I feel his voice pulling me out of the haze.

"My parents..." I start

"They are fine. They just need some time to process all the info my parents gave them. I noticed you zone out. Do you want to know what we told them?" he asks

I nod, and he sighs "We told them the truth. Z will shift if necessary to make them believe."

"Okay" I tell him and he pulls me into his arms.

"Talk to me" he tells.

"What can I say Victor? I have always liked the magical world. My favorite genre is fantasy. So, when I met you and got to know about all the supernatural stuff, I was super excited. Scared yes. But I was excited. My belief has been true all the time. Now I have found that I myself am not normal, I am what I read in books – a fantasy. How many people can say that they have premonition abilities? I don't know. So, I don't know how to react. I am happy that my childhood dream of possessing supernatural powers has come true. I am scared because the nightmare is going to come true. Look Victor, I had a dream and we found a freaking scroll from the 40's that refers to me, it also mentions you, your pack and a killer who is stalking me. I am not sure what else will happen." I tell him exasperated.

"I know it's easy to say this, but don't worry, we will figure what to do. It's okay to be happy and scared at the same time. To be honest, I am happy and the pack will be very happy when they know that their Alpha's mate has premonition abilities. It is too rare, you know, even among the supernatural community. In fact, we must celebrate that you got super powers" he says

I can't help but chuckle, "Celebrate?" I scoff.

"Love, there has to be a reason we are mates. Agatha asked you to trust me. Maybe I will be your knight in shining armor who will kill the dragon and rescue you" He tries to lighten the mood. When he gets no reaction from me, he continues, "Also, it is good that we have found out why this is happening to you. I promise this to you, when I find that old vampire, I will make sure that I tear his limbs apart before he can even think about getting near you, let alone attempt to kill" he says his eyes darkening.

"Don't you think it is a little extreme? You know tearing the limbs... Can't we hand him over to the police if we catch him?" I ask

"NO! It is far from extreme. He wants to kill you, and successfully killed Betty and Max. He deserves more than a normal sentencing. This is not a normal world love. He is a vampire. We will handle it accordingly"

"Okay so, what next?" I ask

"Thanks to your powers we know the situation we will be dealing, giving us a head start. We also know his name, thanks to Agatha. Now all we have to do is track him down and strike him when the time is right. Or if he reaches us before that, kill him as soon as possible. The only part of Agatha's letter that I liked was where she wrote that in her experience if the vision doesn't have an end, then we have a fighting chance to win. Your vision doesn't have an end. I know we will win" he tells me with confidence.

"How can you be so sure?" I ask

"Because Athena, justice always wins. Agatha only wanted to help him find his mate before it became too late. But he has gone too far, filled with vengeance, even after generations. It is just not right to try to kill people just because of hatred."

I feel exhausted and fall asleep in his arms after some time.

(Victor's POV)

I leave Athena in the room after she dozed off and go to my office to check on some work. I heard that Z ended up shifting in front of the Crimsons and it was bit of a shock for them. But they didn't end up fainting like Athena did when she first saw me. That night seems like a long time ago.

Her parents are taking it surprisingly well, my dad told me it maybe because of the concept of soulmates. My thoughts are suddenly interrupted by Z when he opens the door with force. He looks like he was stuck in a storm.

"Alpha, Bad news – Craig was found tied up to a tree outside our pack border and he had this letter with him" he gives me an envelope.

"We got Craig, which is good. What's so bad about it?" I hear my dad saying as he comes inside the office.

I open the letter and start reading. My blood boils.

Alpha Victor,

I know you want this Craig guy. I saw him escaping and thought he could act as a peace offering. Take him and in return give me that wretched woman you call your mate. No woman born in Agatha's family should live. They can only bring destruction. You have 3 days to decide.

Lord Lucius

"What the hell? Did anyone see Lucius or his men?" I yell at Z and can see him cowering in fear at my tone. But I cant reign the fury in.

"No Alpha... the patrol... didn't see anyone" Z stutters and I growl.

"Victor you need to remain calm. No one can get to Athena. You are no use to her if you lose your cool" my dad says.

I try to listen to him. He is right. I have to be cautious and keep Athena by my side at all times.

Lucius count your days. I am coming for you.
