Bambam was driving home, but he felt uneasy after meeting Lisa as if she was no longer the Lisa he had met four years ago, everything about her had changed.
He couldn't wrap his head around the idea that Lisa had another child, apart from her child with Jennie, and that she now had a family of her own. What Bambam didn't know was that Lisa had spent years living in Thailand, and he later discovered that Lisa's mother had lied to him. Strangely, he didn't harbor anger; instead, he understood the mother's protective instinct, as she had done everything to safeguard her daughter's privacy. Bambam held deep respect for that.
Upon reaching home, he took a quick shower and climbed into bed. However, the conversation he had with Lisa kept replaying in his mind.
"I was imprisoned that night, and when I woke up, I was in the hospital. Seulgi helped me; she told me I was in a coma for a week. I don't remember anything except for being imprisoned," Lisa's words continued to trouble him.
The mention of Seulgi bothered him, especially since he got along well with her. Besides being friends, they were also business partners, often attending meetings and parties together. However, Seulgi had never mentioned that she had helped Lisa four years ago.
Bambam found it impossible to sleep; it felt as if his conscience was tormenting him, intensifying his guilt over what had happened to Lisa.
FLASHBACK - FOUR YEARS AGO
"What are you doing here, Lisa?"
"Can you talk to Wendy, so I have a chance to talk to Jennie?"
(Sarcastic laughter) "Do you really think Jennie will talk to you after what you did to her?"
"Bam, I came here to ask for your help."
"Well, you know, Lisa, if I were Jennie, I wouldn't want to talk to you ever again."
"I don't need your opinion! I just want you to help me talk to Jennie."
"I'm sorry, Lisa, but I can't do that. I don't want Wendy to be angry with me again. We're okay now, and I don't want us to fight because of you."
END OF FLASHBACK
Bambam woke from his thoughts, feeling the warmth of Wendy's hand wrapped around his body. He gently adjusted Wendy's pillow and planted a loving kiss on her forehead before quietly getting out of bed.
"Where are you going?" Wendy asked, still half-awake, her eyes fluttering open.
"I can't sleep, I'll grab some whiskey," Bambam replied softly before leaving the room.
_ _ _
Days had passed, and Lisa was in her office, methodically packing her belongings. Each item was placed in the box with care, and as she worked, she glanced out of the window. A distinct sense of melancholy hung in the air, emanating from her staffs who waited patiently for her to finish her preparations.
Lisa's eyes scanned her office, and she walked to a corner, where she picked up a photo frame featuring her son. She gazed at the picture for a moment, a mixture of emotions in her eyes, before gently placing it inside the box.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Bobby entered. "What time is your flight tomorrow?" he inquired.
"7 AM," Lisa replied.
"I'll talk to Dad,"
"Even if you talk to him, nothing's gonna happen," Lisa replied and continued packing her stuff.
Bobby walked over to his sister, sensing her emotional turmoil. He reached out and placed a comforting hand on Lisa's shoulder. "Take care of yourself, Lisa. Don't hesitate to call me if you need someone to talk to. I'm always here for you," he reassured her. Lisa simply nodded in acknowledgment and, making a request, "Can you watch over my son for a while?" Bobby's smile conveyed his surprise and emotion as he gladly nodded, promising to support his sister during her absence.
After finished packing her stuff, Lisa couldn't resist the urge to see her son one last time, even though it wasn't her scheduled visitation day. She made her way to the Obdam mansion, where her child was staying.
Lisa rang the doorbell and waited for a few moments, but the gate remained closed. She pressed the buzzer repeatedly, growing anxious as there was no sign of it opening.
"Let her in, dad!" Amanda's voice echoed from behind her father, who was monitoring the CCTV footage.
"Let her be, Amanda, until she decides to leave," Mr. Obdam replied calmly as he sipped his coffee. Their conversation was cut short when Amanda's phone rang. But, her father warned her not to answer, observing that Lisa was trying to call someone. Amanda disregarded the warning and stormed out of the room.
Mr. Obdam discreetly signaled his men, who were well-versed in their duties. In a matter of minutes, a commotion ensued.
"Give me my phone if you don't want me to fire you!" Amanda shouted in frustration.
One of the men replied, "I'm sorry, ma'am, but this is your father's order." Amanda's anger flared, leading to a hard slap that resonated through the hallway of the house.
Meanwhile, another of Mr. Obdam's men approached him, handing over Amanda's phone. Mr. Obdam instructed them to keep a close watch on Amanda, ensuring she wouldn't leave the house. He was well aware that Lisa was departing for Korea the next day, and he had deliberately kept Amanda in the dark about it.
Lisa spent hours waiting in her car outside the Obdam mansion, attempting to reach Amanda through calls, but she received no response. Eventually, feeling fatigued and frustrated, she decided to return home, where she would seek some rest and solace, hoping for a peaceful night's sleep despite the emotional turmoil of the day.
