Amanda stood outside her father's office, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. She knew what was coming. She'd been dreading this conversation for weeks, but there was no way to avoid it now. Mr. Obdam, her father, had made decisions that left her furious and frustrated, especially concerning Lithan's custody. Amanda had known about her father's intentions, but each time it came up, a knot of anger and guilt tightened in her chest.

She knocked, a little harder than she intended, and heard his voice from the other side.

"Come in."

As she entered, Mr. Obdam sat behind his desk, as composed and confident as always. He glanced up from a stack of papers, his expression unreadable. Amanda tried to calm herself, but her emotions were already bubbling to the surface. The decision about Lithan's custody was weighing heavily on her, and every time she thought about how her father had handled it-how he had made decisions about her son without even considering Lisa-it only fueled her frustration. Amanda felt her blood boil at his calm tone. **Our guardianship.** The words echoed in her mind, fueling her frustration. She couldn't believe how easily he spoke about it, as if it were just another business decision, not the life of her son-**Lisa's son**-that he was taking control over. She sat down, but her body was tense, barely containing her anger.

"You've made your decision then," Amanda said, her voice strained, doing her best to keep it steady.

Mr. Obdam raised an eyebrow at her tone but didn't comment. "I've made the right decision, Amanda. Lithan will be better off with us. It's the best path forward, and you know it."

Amanda's jaw tightened. "The best path? You didn't even consider Lisa. You're making choices that affect her son's life, and she has no idea what's happening."

Mr. Obdam leaned back in his chair, his eyes hardening. "Lisa left, Amanda. She made her choices, and we can't wait around for her to return. Lithan needs stability, and that's what I'm providing."
