JENNIE POV.
Calming Hyeong down was proving to be quite a challenge. He had been crying inconsolably since earlier, and it was clear that he was desperately searching for Jiyong, who had left for work early. This was precisely why I didn't want to indulge him too much. Whenever Jiyong was around, he spoiled the kid, giving in to his every whim without consulting me.
This frustrating scenario was all too familiar, happening practically every morning when his dad had to head to work. He longed for Jiyong's presence as soon as he woke up.
The only relief came when I managed to reach Jiyong on the phone. It was as if he possessed the magical touch that could instantly calm his son. I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy at times, wishing that I could have the same effect.
"Mommy, can I please go with Dad to his work today? I want to see what he does!" He demanded, his eyes still shimmering with unshed tears. I gently wiped away a stray tear.
"Honey, I understand you're curious, but you can't go to Daddy's workplace. It's not safe for children," I explained, hoping to convey the importance of my decision.
He persisted, his voice tinged with disappointment. "But why, Mommy? I promise I'll be good!"
I smiled at him, my heart aching at his innocence. "I know you would be good, honey, but there are some places where kids can't go, and Dad's workplace is one of them."
He furrowed his brow, trying to make sense of it all. "Is it because I'm not a grown-up?"
"Yes, honey, that's one reason," I replied gently. "Grown-up jobs can involve things that might be dangerous for kids."
His curiosity got the better of him, and he pressed on, his eyes wide with wonder. "Dangerous? Like what, Mommy?"
I sighed, searching for the right words to convey the potential risks. "Well, sometimes there are big machines, chemicals, and tools that only grown-ups know how to use safely. We wouldn't want you to accidentally get hurt."
His little voice trembled as he responded, "I don't want to get hurt, Mommy."
"I know, honey," I said softly, "and that's why Mommy and Daddy want to keep you safe. You can do lots of fun things with me while Dad is at work, and then we can hear all about his day when he comes home."
He considered my words for a moment, his eyes still brimming with curiosity. "Okay, Mommy. But can I see Dad's work when I'm a grown-up?"
"Absolutely, honey! When you're older, you can learn all about what Dad does, and maybe even visit his workplace safely."
I watched as his eyes brightened with hope. "Yay! I'll be a big, strong grown-up like Dad one day!"
I pulled him into a warm hug, cherishing the innocence of his childhood. "That's right, honey. But for now, let's have our own little adventure together today, okay?"
As Hyeong's excitement shifts from disappointment to anticipation, Jennie reassures him that they'll make the most of their day together, keeping him safe and happy.
Jennie held her son's hand with a warm smile. "Are you excited to see where Mommy works today?"
Hyeong's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Yeah, Mommy! Is your office as big as our house?"
Jennie chuckled at his enthusiasm. "Well, it's pretty big, but not that big. Come on, I'll show you around."
They strolled down the hallway, the employees nearby couldn't help but smile and admire the heartwarming scene. It was the first time they had seen the Kim's child.
