"Finally seeing her," Jiyong said, his voice sharp, breaking the silence. He stopped pacing and turned to face Jennie, his eyes filled with a mixture of anger and something else she couldn't quite place. "I just need to know... What did you feel after seeing her?"
Jennie blinked, caught off guard by the question. "What do you mean? I already told you, Jiyong. I did this for Hyeong. None of this has anything to do with whatever you're thinking."
Jiyong clenched his jaw, taking a step closer to her. "I'm not talking about Hyeong right now. I'm talking about you-about how you felt when you saw Lisa again after all these years. Don't act like it didn't shake you."
Jennie frowned, her brows knitting together in confusion and frustration. "What are you trying to say? You were there, Jiyong. Our son's life is at stake. That's the only thing that matters right now."
Jiyong's hands balled into fists at his sides as he struggled to keep his emotions in check. "You're avoiding the question, Jennie. I saw the way you looked at her. You weren't just thinking about Hyeong. I know this whole situation with Lisa is messing with your head, and I can't stand it."
Jennie stood up, her eyes flashing with frustration. "Of course, it's messing with me! My son needs a bone marrow transplant, and Lisa is the only person who can help him. But that doesn't mean I'm thinking about her the way you're accusing me of."
Jiyong's voice rose, the emotion he'd been holding back starting to spill out. "You didn't even answer the question! What did you feel, Jennie? Seeing her again, hearing her voice. Did it bring back memories? Old feelings?"
Jennie's eyes widened, her disbelief evident. "Are you seriously doing this right now? I don't have time for this nonsense! We've already talked about it, Jiyong. My focus is on Hyeong, not on Lisa or the past."
"You're lying to yourself," Jiyong shot back, his voice almost desperate now. "You haven't let go of what happened with her, and now she's back in our lives because of Hyeong. But I need to know where you stand, Jennie. I need to know if this is going to complicate things between us."
Jennie's heart pounded in her chest as she looked at him, her frustration reaching its breaking point. "I don't owe you an explanation about my past with Lisa! This is about saving our son's life, and I can't believe you're turning it into something about you and me."
Jiyong's face hardened, his voice low and intense. "It's not just about the past, Jennie. It's about us. It's about the future. If you can't be honest with me, how are we supposed to move forward?"
Jennie took a deep breath, her emotions warring inside her. "I am being honest with you. We need her-she's the only one who can save Hyeong. That's it. I'm not thinking about old feelings or the past. I'm thinking about our son, and I need you to trust me on that."
Jiyong stared at her, his chest rising and falling with the weight of his emotions. For a long moment, neither of them spoke, the silence heavy and charged. Finally, Jiyong ran a hand through his hair, his voice softer but still filled with tension. "I just don't want to lose you, Jennie. Not to her. Not again."
Jennie's heart ached at his words, but she kept her resolve. "You're not going to lose me. But right now, we need to focus on what matters-Hyeong. Not the past, not Lisa. Just our son."
Jiyong nodded slowly, though the tension in his eyes remained. "I hope you mean that."
Jennie sighed, her own frustration still simmering beneath the surface. "I do. But we can't keep having this conversation. It's not about what I felt when I saw her. It's about what I'm willing to do for our son. And I'll do anything to save him."
The room fell into a strained silence once again, the weight of their words hanging in the air. Neither of them spoke, but the tension between them lingered, unresolved.
