“Thank you, Orville and Eagle! That was a wonderful presentation. And now, introducing, Revali and _____!” Master Bizz called, and Revali looked around for you, hoping you’d show up. “I said, introducing, Revali and _____!” Still nothing. Revali was about to run out and go through with the act by himself, but then suddenly you flew up to the top of the peak, making very brief contact with the ground before gliding out into the course. Revali gasped a bit and followed you, trying to catch your attention but failing to do so.
The pair of you flew through the course together, and Revali did his best to catch up with you so you were in sync like you were supposed to be. You tried to slow yourself down a bit, but you almost flew straight into one of the pillars and had to twist to get yourself away, still managing to hurt your side in doing this.
“_____!” He called out, and you glanced over at him. “Where have you been?” He asked, and you were trying to figure out how to explain on top of trying to make sure you were going the right way. “What kept you for so long?”
“I told you I was called to Hyrule Castle to talk to Rhoam about stuff.” You answered, still keeping an eye out for the pillars, and keeping the wind moving straight. “We had a bit of an issue that we needed to fix, but I promise everything’s fine now.”
“What exactly was it about?” He managed to say, twisting himself through the balloons right as you did, and you both turned around, shot them, and then continued to glide towards the next round of balloons and pillars.
“It was just about me leaving, nothing to worry about.” You said, sliding your extra arrows back into your quiver since the next targets weren’t for a good while. “I’m here now, and that’s all that matters, right?” You looked at him, and he shook his head and looked straight ahead.
“Well apparently not for you, Queen _____.” You gasped and covered your mouth, completely losing track of what direction you were going to, and you almost ran right into one of the sky pillars. “_____!” You finally noticed, and barely swerved in time to get out of the way. Half of your body still hit it, and you lost your grip of the wind and began falling towards the ground.
Revali dove down towards you, and you couldn’t use any of the scrolls to help you, as your mind was suddenly fuzzy and you weren’t able to figure out how. Revali caught you just before you hit the ground, and he landed and set you down in front of him.
“Are you okay? _____, talk to me.” You shook your head and reached up, and he gave you his wing and pulled you back to your feet. “Take it easy.” He said as you almost fell forward, but you somehow managed to keep your balance and you brushed the snow out of your hair.
“I’m fine.” You sighed, and you looked up at him. “What about me being Queen _____?” You snarled, and he huffed and folded his wings, turning his head away from you. “What did you say, Revali?” You asked again.
“You lied to me.” He muttered under his breath, and your eyes went wide as you looked over him. “You said that you were almost made queen. But that little note told me otherwise.” He glared down at you, and you felt your heart practically thumping out of your chest now.
“W-Well I didn’t know either, Revali. How was I supposed to tell you if I didn’t even know it was official?” You asked, and he laughed a bit before turning away so his back was facing you.
“I just asked where you were, and you said you just had to talk to Rhoam about stuff, didn’t you?” He growled, and you refused to answer. “Didn’t you?”
“Revali! _____! Are you two alright?” Master Bizz asked as he landed near the both of you, and you both nodded to him. “You need to come back up and finish your part then. You’re the final act, and everyone’s waiting,”
“I just need another few minutes alone with my partner, please.” He scoffed, and you started to feel the guilt overwhelm you. Master Bizz nodded and flew back up to the top of the mountain to wait for the pair of you to come back. “I thought when I married you, it was supposed to be a promise between us. I thought I could always trust you.”
“And I want you to be able to trust me, Revali, but it’s hard to keep up with all of this royal stuff and everything, and I’m still trying to find peace in my life!” You explained, and he nodded yet never turned back to face you.
“And I understand that. But it’s hard for me to also find peace in my life when you, the one person who I love and trust with my entire life, can’t be honest with me. I was originally going to propose to you during our third year, but I wanted to let you sort of your problems with your sister and Rhoam and get your life fully together. Then you finally came to me with all the news of the tragedy of your sister’s death and the forced wedding, so even then I wanted to just give you some time. The best I could do was be there for you as much as I could.” He put his wings over his beak and let out a deep sigh. “I’m just sorry I came in between this now.”
“Revali, none of this is your fault. I… I’m sorry for lying, and I’m sorry for everything that’s going on, but I didn’t know! I thought I left before they could officiate anything.” You reached out to touch his shoulder but he walked further away.
“If this coronation was really official, does this mean there’s a chance I was the Hyrulean King for this entire past year?” He asked, and you froze. You hadn’t really thought about it that way until he said it. With you not answering, he went on. “I do really love you, _____, but now that we’re married, anything that happens in your life may affect mine as well. Meaning if the royal administration is able to get all of the files together, they can come after the both of us as a pair.”
“Rhoam said he’d cover for me. And if he’s covering for me, the royal administration can’t hurt you. We also have protection as a pair now that we’re married.” You told him, but he still refused to turn around. “Revali, please-“
“I’m going to need some time to think about this, _____.” He said, and you nodded slowly and started to walk away. As you walked through the snow, you were too lost in thought about what you had done to realize the snow started to feel- odd. And before you knew it, the floor beneath you broke and you were submerged into a lake of freezing water. You tried to get yourself back up, but with your muscles slowly starting to freeze over, you couldn’t.
