We sat on the hood of my (Legend's) car passing a blunt back and forth, technically he shouldn't be smoking but there was plenty of time before he got on campus and started training for the basketball season. I looked over at Khris and smiled, we were.... it was hard to describe, we weren't in a relationship (we've never put a name on it) but we spent all our free time together. He was the first dude I've introduced to Legend, by introduced I meant brought him around for things other than sex; I've brought Khris with me to family functions, little mini trips out of the city Khris has been with us, and he's the only dude I've felt comfortable enough to leave around D-Man, Murda, and Jizzle... not because I was worried about them fuckin him or anything like that but because I trusted that when they inevitably started asking questions he'd be able to handle them. I should probably be sleep right now since Legend was putting me to work in the morning but I wanted to spend a little time with Khris because knowing Legend, when he said 'work' he actually meant that shyt and I knew as soon as I got finished I was going to be tired as fuck, more than likely all I was going to want to do is take a shower and crash, which meant a full day without seeing Khris... so you can see why I was so determined to spend some time with him.
"Wassup man? You only want to smoke whenever one of two things happen; you see your ex with his new nigga or you and your brother get into it so which one is it?" I asked and while I was certain that Khris had moved on from his last relationship, there were a few situations that have happened in the last few months that well.... I guess I'm not the right person to tell that story.
"A combination of both actually.... Cash is coming back at least that's what he claims. Nigga couldn't even make it back for my graduation but the second he hears that Jaire is..... it's just frustrating that his priorities are still fucked up. Then there's the whole Irvin and Trenton situation... I can't even really blame that nigga Trenton, it's all Irvin." Khris said shaking his head.
"Come're....." I said slippin off the hood of the car and standing in front of him, Khris looked at me with an uncertain gleam in his eyes; finally, he slipped off the hood of the car and stepped towards me, I pulled him into my arms, letting my hands cup his fat ass, and I looked into his eyes. "Fuck them niggas.... all of them." I said quietly. "You got a good group of dudes around you, you got a new family and one thing I've learned from Legend... blood doesn't make you family, love does and the dudes in your camp love you like brothers are supposed to, you're good.... as for Irvin, I'll beat his ass if he keeps trying to cause trouble."
"I don't need you fighting my battles Rú." Khris said smiling.
"I know... but as I told you the other night.... you're mine and I'm yours, we may not be official official but we know what we got between us and I'm going to protect that at all cost." I said really grippin his ass and letting him know what I was on. "Gimme a kiss...." I said smiling and Khris leaned forwards and pushed his lips against mine. "You wanna get outta here?" I asked knowing the answer would be 'hell yeah', Khris nodded and I pulled my keys out of my pocket. Just as we broke apart, the sounds of gunshots rang out; they were close like really fuckin close, I looked around the park where we were chillin and saw two cars on the other side of the park, they were trading gunshots until one car sped off and the other sat there, lights blinking and alarm blaring.
"We should probably get the fuck outta here...." Khris said nervously, he was right.... the sad part about all of all this was that it was becoming normal. The small battles between Renee and Epic were becoming all too common, I had thought they'd slow down some with Renee getting ready to head out with Legend but I'm guessing I was wrong. "Fuck, I gotta head home.... can we uhh.... can we link up tomorrow instead." Khris asked sounding pissed.
"I mean.... I gotta work but depending on what time I get off and how tired I am, we can plan something out then.... I was really hoping that we could.... y'know?" I asked smiling and Khris nodded, but I guess the timing was off and there wasn't anything we could do about that so I dropped Khris off and headed back home. "What are you still doing up?" I asked Legend who was sitting in the living room looking at something on his laptop.
