The looks I was getting from my men showed their anger, horror, and displeasure at my comments to Legend about Renee... but I knew my brother better than them and I knew my brother better than y'all. IF... and that's a big if, IF Renee is truly pregnant by Legend then I knew my little brother would do anything to protect her, Legend wasn't stupid... he was calculating and precise, he could see what was coming and knowing him he wasn't going to take any risk when it came to the safety of his unborn children. My main concern at the moment was Vincini, I wanted the nigga's head on a platter... as they discussed our next course of action my mind wandered to the contents of that folder he gave me... the fact that he was watching me so closely.... the fact that he knew about my 'accident'.... I debated on whether or not I should tell Alonzo but decided against it, I knew him and I knew he'd be pissed... Maybe I was afraid of losing him, though a part of me believed he wouldn't trip if he found out, I still wasn't willing to take that risk. The debate was getting heated, so heated in fact that even Santerìa had started to chime in, I looked at Preacher who gave me a subtle nod letting me know that he wanted to speak to me in private. I stood up and walked out to the balcony and was joined by Preacher seconds later.... It was a hot, clear night but the way he looked at me... you'd thought it was the depths of winter.
"When you brought me back from my exile... I made you promise me two things, the first was that you would heed my counsel... Epic, this move isn't one I can't support.... While I understand the circumstances... going to war with Legend....." Preacher didn't finish but I had a sense of what he was trying to say.
"I'm not even entirely sure those are my brother's children and even if they are... Legend should've been smarter and not let that bitch trap him. I'm doing him a favor by removing that woman from his...." Before I could finish Preacher had placed his hand on my shoulder and I felt a chill go down my spine.
"Epic... if you do this, you will have lost this war. There would be no coming back from this... you would have lost Legend, your parents, and most importantly the respect of men who support you... You seen how they were looking.... they're not feeling this move, except for MAYBE Alonzo's crazy ass cousin." Preacher said. "You need to broker a sort of peace with Renee through Legend... at least until after her pregnancy, which gives us more time to finish our plan." Preacher said.
"Fine, I'll talk to him at the family barbecue... However, there is something that I need Santerìa to handle, that nigga Vincini needs to be dead by the end of the week.... I don't like how he's moving." I said thinking back to those pictures. "I also need you to bring someone to me... not tonight but within the next few days."
"Consider it done... Looks like I'm not the only one who wants to talk to you." Preacher said and I noticed Edmund standing by the door waiting.
"Preacher... you never told me what the second thing was. When I came to you for help, you said I would have to pay and the price would be high... what's the price?" I asked curiously, Preacher didn't say anything but the sad look on his face said a lot.
"Ezequiel had a hand in our sister's death... that much is clear, but what I haven't been able to get out of him is who helped him and why. If I'm being honest, it seems like you've been losing interest in finding out the truth and I suspect it has a lot to do with Alonzo." Edmund said.
"Seeing as how you're against killing him, I'm not entirely sure what you want me to do. Ezequiel is a rare breed, even under the harshest torture he hasn't cracked. Which is why I've decided to leave it up to you to get those answers... you know your little brother better than anyone, if anyone is able to break through and get answers I assume it would be you." I said looking at him.
"Understood, Lil Bro.... but you may not like my methods." Edmund said and I shrugged. "Aight, I need to talk to Legend.... and I'll need Midnight's help." Edmund said walking off, I stood out there looking up at the starry sky.
