The sheer audacity of this bitch was something to be admired, not only did she show up at my brother's house but she had the unmitigated gall to be wearing a simple black dress that showed her stomach. While it was obvious that she was pregnant, it could be easily passed off as something else if you weren't really paying attention but I knew and the longer I allowed that bitch to breathe the harder it would be to go through with my promise. I started towards her only for my dad to stop me and Legend, who was playing with our little cousins to stop and stare at me, a look of a threat lingering in his eyes and he stood up and brushed the grass from his clothes before walking towards Renee. The only person who seemed confused by everything was my mom and given the look on her face, I knew she was utterly unaware of Legend's current problem, and since my dad wanted to block... I figured the easiest way to distract him was by telling 'The Boss' what was going on (leaving out my involvement). Before I could reach my mom, Icon blocked my path, he was holding Jordan and had this weird look on his face.... See they were really starting to test my resolve and seemed to be under the impression that I wouldn't show my ass in front of family... damn, did they really know me at all?
"You mind taking him inside? He has to use the restroom and I'm stuck on grill duty." Icon said and I noticed a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth, I seriously contemplated telling him to fuck off but then I looked at my nephew and I'll admit my heart softened just a little.
"Ayy you wanna help me get these ribs outta the truck?" Frenchie asked as soon as I finished with Jordan, I took a deep breath and followed Frenchie around the side of the house. He knew damn well he could've gotten this shyt himself, maybe he wanted to talk. "Renee has a few of her top dude mingling... we'll have to be careful." Frenchie whispered and I let out a low sigh.
"What the fuck was Legend thinking by inviting them here knowing what's going on?" I asked mostly to myself but I knew Frenchie probably had a slick comment to add.
"I don't know... maybe it has something to do with the fact that she's carrying your brother's children and you threatened to kill her the next time you saw her...." Frenchie said and I shrugged. "I've spoken to Legend, he promises that they'll be coo as long as we are... Legend doesn't want any drama around y'alls parents and Renee." Frenchie said.
"Have you heard from Frank and Fidel?" I asked wanting to switch the topic to Frenchie's cousins who were lurking around... I really didn't trust them two dudes and the fact that they showed up not to long after Vincini wasn't missed by me.
"Who knows." Frenchie said shrugging. "Right now my main concern is Vincini and also Ezequiel... Epic, do you honestly think Edmund is going to kill his brother? Especially after losing his sister... despite his actions, Ezequiel is his only remaining sibling. Personally, I don't think he capable of killing of his little brother, any more than I believe you're capable of killing one of your brothers." Frenchie said with a smirk. Before I could check him we were both caught off guard by the same thing.... "That nigga's ass is incredible...." Frenchie said. "Lowkey... I think there's a high chance that me and Murda might go up against him and his dude in a bedroom tag-team match." Frenchie said as Osian Fuller finished getting his daughters out of the car.
"I need a minute...." I said stepping away, I started walking down the street and I don't know what the fuck came over me, it was like a wave of sadness.... I don't know why I'm lying... I knew exactly what was going on. Seeing Osian with his daughters made me think of Elisha... my heart, my soul, my baby girl. Memories of the day I brought her home flooded my brain, as well as memories of the annoyed look on Eileen's face when she was trying to teach her to saw 'mama' and the word 'dada' came out instead. The first steps she took and the fear that flooded my heart with each step she took, the way she would always steal food off my plate (basically letting it be known she was in charge), getting her out of the car to spend the weekend with my parents.... I shook those thoughts from my head and quickly wiped my face, I couldn't allow weakness to creep into my soul... I needed to be strong.
