I sat in my living room staring blankly at the wall, Cody and Osian were cleaning up (even though it wasn't even dirty), I think they just wanted to seem busy while keeping an eye on me. I appreciated them, I really did but I couldn't believe he was gone... we had been together since high school, in the process of starting a family, and he was my right hand. Peanut was by my side through everything, he was the one who helped come up with the plan to avenge my family.... my family, the family I've never really known and had that opportunity taken from me by Epic Hayes.... Epic Hayes, it didn't go unmissed by me that the night Peanut was killed I was getting tag teamed by Epic and Alonzo; my head was telling me it was purely coincidental, my heart was telling me it cruel twist and the two weren't connected.... but I still blamed him, I blamed them. I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes, hoping neither Cody nor Osian noticed but they gave each other that look and started watching me even more closely. I loved these dudes but they needed to leave, I just didn't have the heart to kick them out, because I knew if I did the chances of me doing something incredibly stupid, greatly increased.

"Ayy I appreciate everything y'all have been doing but I'm good... honestly, I'm thinking about going back to Phoenix for a couple of weeks... Y'know just to clear my head and y'know grieve." I said avoiding their eyes.

"Kendu... I get it but at the same time, I get it." Osian said quietly. "I'm about to go check on the girls, I'll be right back...." He said nudging Cody before walking out the door, leaving me with Cody. I moved around the living room without a set goal in mind, I just wanted to seem busy but I could feel Cody's eyes on me the entire time.

"Cody, I'm good... at least today. Some days are better than others and today is one of my good days, you don't have to babysit me... But if you're really that concerned about me doing something stupid you can call your sexy ass cousin to keep me company." I said smiling, I could tell he wasn't buying it but he was tactful enough to play along.

"Ugh... please don't mention Braedon." Cody said rolling his eyes and sitting on the couch. "He's supposed to be helping me with this thing I heard from J'Wayne but lately he's been... busy. Sneaking off, popping up covered in hickies, and the other day I swear I caught him climbing through the back window completely naked...." Cody said shaking his head. "I swear he's so fuckin weird."

"We can put a pin in that and return to it later... but what's going on with J'Wayne?" I asked wondering what mistake my idiot cousin made this time.

"Something about my parent's death not being what I thought it was... it doesn't help that my uncle has been tight-lipped about it, avoiding me, Chae, and Bam, screening our calls, and having his assistant lie to us... I'm tempted to pull up and show my entire ass." Cody said and I could tell it was really bothering him... I'd have to talk to J'Wayne and see what's going on. "Anyways, since it seems like you've got your mind made up about leaving before you go could you at the very least stay until after the cookout? Murda is throwing it and I want you to come as my date." Cody said smiling.

"Date? You sure Legend won't have a problem with that?" I asked playfully.

"Well, he's on a date right now... I'm sure he won't mind." Cody said. "Speak of the devil.... hey baby." Cody said answering his phone with a smile that instantly dropped. "WHAT?!?!??! ARE YOU OKAY?!?!?!? WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!? NO, FUCK THAT I'M ON MY WAY?!??!?!?" Cody said jumping up.

"I... I think I'm going to hang back." I said quietly, Cody either didn't hear me or simply didn't care as he ran out of the house, finally leaving me alone... but I couldn't help but wonder what the fuck was going on. As I sat down on the couch, I felt like I had too much time on my hands... I needed to be active, I needed to do something; a text came through and I was thankful for the distraction.
