The only thing that saved me from being charged with Keyair's murder were the videos that were saved on my phone; videos I didn't even know were there. Kendu and Osian also sent videos they had taken throughout the night which showed I was with them the entire night, that and the messages that Keyair sent Bam saved me from being arrested. I wasn't sure how to feel about Keyair being murdered, it was just... something that happened; sure we were 'friends' at one point but over the last few months Keyair had shown his true colors and showed me that we was never really my friend.... Now that, that situation was handled I couldn't help but wonder why I was still here, Uncle Laurence had driven and he was off having conversations with a few of the police officers he knew and I was just ready to get back home and sleep this hangover off. As I was waiting Chae, Bam, Kendu, and Osian kept calling to check on me and honestly, I was getting annoyed because I was ready to go... when we arrived the sun was out and now it was close to dusk.... Finally, around nine my uncle walked out of one of the rooms laughing about something and acting as if I hadn't been here all damn day, I was hungry, hungover, and horny... I hadn't heard Legend's voice all day and that wasn't sitting right in my spirit.

"Sorry for the delay Cody, I just needed to discuss some business with Deputy Chief of Police... is everything handled?" Uncle Laurence asked and I sat there staring at him. "Shyt... you look just like my sister when she's upset and hungry, I remember one time she punched me in the face because I wanted to talk to my boys after one of my games and she was ready to go eat....." Uncle Laurence said trying to get me to smile.

"Yes, I'm ready to go..." I said standing up and gathering my stuff, just as I was finishing up we were stopped by Detective Cullen stopped me.

"Sorry, I just have a few more questions... not regarding the death of Mr. Krease, so if you mind returning to the interrogation room, this shouldn't take more than twenty minutes." Detective Cullen said and I looked at my uncle who placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Do I need to call my lawyer and ask her to return for these questions?" Uncle Laurence asked and Detective Cullen looked at me and smirked.

"Not at all, these questions aren't really about him... and as long as Mr. Mayfield doesn't have anything to hide he should be able to answer these questions quite easily." Detective Cullen said and Uncle Laurence gave me the 'humor him' look. Since he was my ride and I knew he'd want to talk afterwards, I followed Detective Cullen into one of the rooms and sat down. "Okay, so Mr. Mayfield.... I just wanted to ask you a few questions about your boyfriend L....."

"I'm exercising my rights and invoking the 5th and 6th Amendments. I will remain silent until after I speak with my attorney." I said looking him directly in the eyes and saw him seething with rage. I didn't know what Legend was involved in and as far as I'm concerned that was none of my business... from what I knew Legend went to work and came home... nothing more, nothing less... So whatever Detective Cullen was planning to ask he could save it.

"You know... most innocent people, people who have nothing to hide... but it's clear you aren't planning on answering questions tonight but before you leave... ask yourself do you really know the person you're laying with?" Cullen asked and rolled my eyes before getting up and walking out of the interrogation room, but I couldn't shake the cold look he gave me as I walked out... it was a look of cold hatred.

"..... Yeah I almost slipped up but I caught myself. I didn't tell Cody anything about....." J'Wayne stopped speaking and our eyes met, yesterday at Peanut's funeral J'Wayne said something about my parent's death... or as he called it, their 'senseless murders'. "I hope Cullen didn't give you a hard time. He's a warrior for justice and hates all the senseless killings that are going on in our city." J'Wayne said.

"Can we go?" I asked my uncle because I refused to engage with this dude...no matter how good he looked. Uncle Laurence nodded and we didn't speak until we were pulling into the driveway of my house... "Smells like Aunt Layla is cooking...." I said, don't get me wrong Chae could cook but I knew my aunt's cooking better than anything... there was always a hint of love in the air whenever she cooked.
