After school, Ally biked straight to the arcade. She was waiting patiently in an empty corner of the parking lot for Max to arrive when the sound of radio static from her supercom caught her ears.

Rounding the corner to the side of the arcade where there was sure to be no people lurking around, Ally pulled out the walkie talkie and listened in to see who was trying to contact her.

"Ally, it's Will. Do you copy? Over,"

"Yeah, I copy. What's up?" Ally answered immediately.

The sound of static filled the pause leading up to Will's reply.

"You forgot to say over, Ally. Over,"

Ally rolled her eyes with a small smile playing at her lips.

"Fine," she conceded, "I copy. What's up? Over,"

"Nothing. Hopper and my mom are just talking to Doctor Owens. Over,"

Ally frowned, her brow creasing as she grew concerned.

"Is everything alright? Over,"

Ally waited as the boy contemplated telling her what he was thinking.

"Yeah... I- I think so,"

The boy sounded unsure.

"Hey, it's me. You know you can tell me anything, right?" Ally assured.

Another beat of silence filled with radio static went by.

"I just- the way everyone kept looking at me... I felt like some kind of freak,"

Ally's heart ached at the sound of vulnerability in his voice.

"Hey, I get it. I mean, you're talking to the freakiest of all freaks right here, remember? And being 'normal' is overrated anyway," Ally stated with absolute confidence.

"You think?"

Ally smiled.

"Of course. I mean, name one so-called "normal" person that's an actually genuinely interesting human being 'cause I bet you can't," the girl challenged.

"I guess... I mean, you are always right,"

Ally grinned as she felt heart flutter in her chest.
