Hey everyone. Thanks for not skipping this because I think this is kind of helpful to know<3

So, before moving on I wanted to clarify something just in case I was a bit too ambiguous. This is just to clear up any confusion about Ally's powers. She starts off the series having the exact same powers as El but they obviously weren't as well-developed as El's because she wasn't in the lab for as long as El was. And then, at the end of season 1, after El "died", her powers changed or - if you will - mutated.

This is because Ally's power, is the power of connection and hence protection. Basically, her powers telepathically link/connect her to all the important things/people she's connected to in some way or another.

I particularly chose this power for Ally because, all her life, the thing that always seems to be the source of her problems is her lack of connection to other people. Whether it be with friends or familial connection, she's always sort of isolated and alone - until she befriends Will, that is.

But human connection is something that is very important and essential for like life and stuff. So, in order to protect and preserve itself, Ally's mind engineered her body on a whole other (perhaps biochemical?) level to have/make and preserve connections to others around her/close to her and to the environment around her. And, who knows, maybe that has something to do with her mom. Because Terry Ives (El's mom) also had some kind of abilities.

I really hope that all made sense. But, as you can see, this is not something that can so easily be explained or depicted in just a mere fanfiction. Or, at least, not when I'm still trying to improve on the way I write. If you would like a more in depth explanation and stuff, I am happy to write another author's note - because I totally don't have a wholeass essay about Ally and her powers that's already written and ready to post here lol. Anyway, hope this helps things:)
