Sam’s singing while cooking her breakfast, then her laptop ring a skype call from her mom and she answered.
“Hi mom! Goodmorning! Breakfast?”
“Hi anak, oh you seem to be getting thiner ah, e baka hindi ka naman na nakakakain ng maayos diyan ah.”
“Mom, I am totally fine here masyado lang pong busy ngayon kasi last week na po ng shooting namin e, hinahabol naming po yung isang movie festival ditto.”
“Haay nako ang sakit naman sa ulo magkaanak ng director. E hanggang ditto sa bahay tawag parin ng tawag yung ABS-CBN kung kalian ka daw uuwi mag dadalawang taon ka nang nililigawan ng mga yun anak isn’t this the right time to accept the offer anak para naman makauwi ka narin ditto miss na miss ka na namain ng dad mo e.”
“Mom, konting tiis pa ok? Alam mo naming pihikan itong anak mo diba? Pag inofferan ako nila Cristina at Althea Gonzales ng project jan mommy uuwi agad ako.”
“hmmmp. Sila pa talaga ang uuwian mo ah. selos na ako niyan. Haay nako nagging director ka na anak, milya milya na ang layo mo dyan sa US pero Fan girl ka parin. Haaay. Kanino ka ba nagmana?”
Then we laughed
“Hi tita-bells! How are you na? I soo miss you na talaga!” syempre umepal nanaman etong si sig and yes ufortunately kasama ko parin siya hanggang ngayon.
“Oh yan! Jan ka nagmana sam. Oy sig ah wag na, wag kang magkakamaling mabuntis yang anak ko ah?” mom threatened sig
“Ay! Tita-bells ah. don’t you speak bad words ha? Lesbianism ba ito?” then sig and I looked at each other and screamed
“Eeeeewwwww!!!”
“Sam ah, pagsihan mo yang nanay mo. Joke lang tita! I gotta go now hinihintay na ko ng aking hubby. “
Then he left.
“anak? Talaga bang nagpakasal na siya sa lalaki?”
“mom, you know naman how liberated people are here diba? And pang ten times na ito mommy ko ha? Opo kinasal po sila ditto. And pareho kami ng building natinitirahan so witness ako sa pagmamahalan nila.”
“naku, naiingit ang anak ko. Eh, bakit kasi hindi ka magboyfriend ng Americano dyan?”
“Ang dami po kasi nila sa pila e dip o ako makapili. Hahaha joke pero Mommy, wala pa po sa isip ko yan. I gotta go now too mom malalate na ko sa call time.”
“anak ikaw naman ang boss diba?”
“Mom, I am the role model, dapat. So I call you on my free time okay? Iloveyou and dad. Mwah”
Haay, grabe. It’s been 5 years na. and who would have thought na from fan girl I am a director now. 5 years ago nagdecide akong wag nang maniwala sa quote na “nothing is impossible.” But then Jesus became my boyfriend and you know what parang sinabi niya lang sakin na kulang daw kasi yung quotes ko noon and it should be “With God, nothing is impossible.” And look where I am right now. I am an independent movie director here iun London. Nagdidirect din ako ng mga commercial and kung ano ano pa. my friends and my family became an inspiration for me to be here. And of course my idols and Lucas. Even for the fact that he crushed a part of me, I still want to give him credits because without him I wouldn’t be where I am right now. So thanks for making a better and stronger version of myself.
“CUT! Good take! Pack up everyone J”
After shooting I checked my phone. There is a missed call from an unknown number. Then suddenly it’s calling me again. I answered the call.
“Hey, it’s Samiantha. How may I help ya?
“Sam? Hello Sammy! Ang ate tin ito. Uy miss na kita!”
OMY GOSH! Is this realy happenin’? tama ba yung naririnig ko? Nagflashback lahat ng fan girling days ko. I feel like I wanted to scream and shout my lungs out and said how much I missed her too.
So I happily replied “ Ate tin? Idol? Ikaw po a talaga to? nananaginip lang po ba ako?”
She laughed and said.
“ hmm. Ikaw talaga ah, Yes it’s me.eee. surprise! Teka di mo ako namiss?”
“no, I mean, yes! Of course I do miss you. Hmm. I miss you ate! J”
She giggled and said “ ano ba talaga? Samiantha ah? HAHAHA.”
“Ate kumusta ka po? Si ate althea po kumusta po kayo?”
“We’re good, we’re doing great naman. Eto medyo busy ikaw. Haay nako miss na miss ka na rin ni althea. Wala na daw kasi siyang inaayusan e. J e ikaw dyan? Balita ko bigtime ka na dyan Direk ah. Nux!”
“Nako hindi naman po ate. Mas bigtime parin kayo. Idol e J”
“Uy pero Congrats sam ah! you deserve it. Napanuod ko yung movie na ginawa mo. It was so wonderful.”
“Thank you, thank you. How did you watched it ate? Di pa naman po nag eair sa jan sa Philippines diba po?”
“Ow, yes. Di pa nga. Andito kami ngayon sa New Jersey may 2 weeks vacation kami kaya eto katatapos lang naming panuodin yung movie”
“Talaga po? Who’s with you then? We are just one ride apart J”
“I’m with my cousins, si althea nagpunta sa restroom. Yun na nga, when we heard the news about you being the newest pride of the Philippines because of your filming skills, nagulat atnatuwa talaga kaming magkapatid for you. Parang kalian lang you’re still a our student coordinator sa school niyo e. Nagtataka nga ang mommy kung nasaan ka na daw kasi nawalan daw siya ng magaling na student coordinator. J”
I giggled then she said
“Uy, we’ll be having aparty tomorrow night, punta ka ha? Hindi ba masyadong abala yung travel mo from there? saan ka na nga?
“New York po.”
“Medyo mahabang byahe yun ah. is that ok with you. Pumunta ka please. We have a lot of catching up to do. Besides kailangan nating planuhin yung concert naming ni althea. “
“Concert? The both of you?”
“Yup! And you are so much needed there direk!”
