MichaelIt was hard.
Not for Nathan, but to me, it looked confusing.
Poppy seemed to pick it up well- but then she picked everything up quite well so it was a given.
"Thank you Nath," I said, "Could you give her all the numbers she needs while I get Lauren ready for bed?"
"Yeah,"
At the sound of her name, Lauren came running over, so I picked her up and carried her to her bedroom.
"Pyjamas?"
"Pyjamas," she said, handing them to me, "Daddy, guess what,"
"What?"
"I got a gold star sticker today,"
"That's amazing! What did you do?"
"I sat still on the carpet and I put my hand up to ask a question,"
"Good manners sweetheart! You have been learning them so well,"
She giggled and let me put her pyjama top on, then stepped into the shorts and went to the bathroom. I brushed her teeth and tucked her into bed, then got a book and turned the lamp on.
While she did that, Payton came and got ready for bed, but left again.
"I liked that story,"
"Good,"
"I am not tired. I want another book please,"
"Okay, one more story but then you need to sleep,"
She giggled and I chose another book, reading it to her. This time she got a bit sleepy, and Crystal said goodnight, then I tucked her in and left her to sleep.
I took a shower and then read the twins a bedtime story as well, Bailey saying goodnight to us all.
"Poppy, are you gonna start getting ready for bed?" I said, heading downstairs,
"Not yet,"
"Please?"
"I am playing a game,"
"10 more minutes,"
"I've already given her 10 more minutes, 10 minutes ago," Crystal said, "Poppy, get ready for bed please,"
"Why doesn't Nathan have to sleep this early?"
"Because,"-
"I'm going to bed too,"
"Liar!"
"No I'm not," he said, standing up, "Don't call me that,"
He went upstairs, a slight stomp in his step, but Poppy still refused to move.
"Poppy, I am going to ask you one more time. Please get ready for bed and give me your phone,"
"No! I am grown up now,"
"If you cannot follow the rules then you cannot have the phone,"
She ignored her, so Crystal took the phone off Poppy and turned it off, putting it in her pocket.
"Go and get ready for bed, please,"
She burst into tears and I sighed, rubbing my eyes. Crying or upset kids was my weakness and I always gave in.
"Poppy, you can have it back tomorrow, but you need a good night of sleep to heal your body. It goes through lots and lots all day, and it needs to rest," Crystal said, "You're so excited for the phone that I know you won't put it down,"
