Poppy

"Hey! Poppy! Miss! Wait up,"

I turned back and saw Alfie, so we waited by the gate.

At lunch I had decided to stay, and it was the best choice ever. We liked all the same things and they were all very funny, and welcoming. They even invited me to eat with them tomorrow, and already asked if I was free in the summer which made me tear up a bit when they had walked me back to the office because I hadn't been included in things before. They didn't even care I couldn't walk, nor did they care that I wasn't ready to share anything.

"Do you have snapchat? I wanna add you to the groupchat,"

"No. I am sorry, I don't have a phone yet,"

"Oh, okay. Maybe tonight you could get your home number for us instead?"

"I will try and remember,"

"Great. Sit with us tomorrow, yeah?"

"Yeah,"

"Thanks for stopping miss,"

"You're welcome," she smiled, helping me find mum's van, "Over there look. Isn't it great you made some friends?"

"I am very excited,"

"Good. They're a very lovely group of boys, I am sure you'll get along great,"

Usually Nathan or Bailey walked me back to the car, but miss wanted to talk to mum so she took me.

"Hi Mrs Clifford, is it okay if we have a quick word?"

"Of course. Can someone help Poppy in please?"

She got out and kissed my head, then they went off to the side to talk while Nathan helped me get in the van. I sat next to Cameron, who gave me a hug, then put my seatbelt on and my crutches on the floor.

Not long after, mum got back in the car and we set off home.

At lunch I had found I struggled to eat because I had a really annoying wobbly tooth so I needed to ask mum about it, but when we got home I felt too nervous and went to my room to change.

"Hello," Elijah smiled, "How was your day?"

"Good, I made friends,"

"That's amazing! Who are they?"

"Alfie, Kalani, Elliot and Maaz. They all like football and video games,"

"Well that sounds perfect,"

"Please can I change?"

He got off his bed and left the room, so I took my skirt off and reluctantly put shorts on. I was extremely hot, so I had to give in.

"Poppy? Are you in there?"

"Yeah,"

"May I come in?"

I opened the door and mum smiled, closing it again behind her. She sat on Elijah's bed and I sat on mine, yawning.

"Miss spoke to me quickly and told me that at lunch some girls caused a bit of trouble. Are you okay?"

"I am fine, they just kicked my bag. Nathan came to help, and so did my new friends,"

"Okay. If you are upset then we can talk about it,"

"I'm not upset,"

"Well that's good, they sound very immature,"

I nodded and twisted my lips, clearing my throat.
