Michael

"Hey," I whispered, quietly knocking on Elijah and Poppy's door, "Can you two wake up?"

Poppy's eyes shot open and I smiled, but Elijah was a heavy sleeper and I had to shake him a little.

"What?" he croaked, "I'm super tired I will do my chores later,"

"Mum and I are taking Poppy to her appointment soon, you said you'd be up for a bit before Luke and Calum arrive incase the kids need something,"

"What about Jasper?"

"Jasper is going to meet someone and won't be back for a bit,"

He was going to therapy, but he didn't want to tell everyone which was okay. We always respected our kids privacy as much as possible, even from each other.

"Why is my appointment this early?"

"I'm not sure, sweetpea, but I think they might be running a few tests. Mum and I will be by your side the while time, okay? Also it is 8:30, it's not that early,"

"Is it Ashton?"

"No, it's someone who knows a lot about bones. What do you fancy wearing?"

"Mum picks my outfits,"

"Well you probably just want shorts and a top,"

"Shorts?" she said, choking on her drink, "No,"

"Elijah, please can you watch Lauren in the pool?" Crystal said, slipping into the room, "I will buy you whatever you want if you just get your ass out of bed,"

He smiled and laughed quietly, rubbing his eyes.

"I am getting there,"

"Well get there faster," she said, playfully rolling her eyes, "Whatever you want,"

Sighing, he got up, kissing her cheek before leaving to go to the pool. Elijah loved being with his siblings, but not so much at 8:30 in the morning having to be responsible for them the second time in the week. We did feel bad, but both Luke and Calum had been working quite late shifts last night and it would've been rude to get them up this early.

"Dad wants me to wear shorts,"

"You need to wear shorts. They might even put you in a gown," I argued.

"Mum?"

"It's true. It will be okay though, nobody is looking as much as you think they are, and it's nothing to be ashamed of,"

She changed into some material black shorts and a slightly cropped flowing pink top, then we all ate some breakfast together.

Once freshened up, we got shoes on and checked everyone was okay before getting into the car and leaving.

We could tell she was nervous. She hardly ate, and she was twisting her hands together furiously, her cheeks bright red.

"I think we will make it to the barbecue,"

"Really?"

"Yeah. The actual tests shouldn't be too long, it just might be hard waiting for the machines. Don't worry, we brought a book and the ipad,"

"Will they hurt?"

"I don't think anything will hurt. They might do a small blood test which can feel like a scratch, but you will be okay,"

"I thought my legs would be all fixed by now,"

"Let's see what solutions they can offer!"

I parked the car and we got out, Crystal and Poppy following behind as we went to the orthopaedic ward. It wasn't as friendly as the kids ward where I am sure Poppy would've liked to have been, but it had to do. I checked us in and then we sat down, Poppy squeezing herself into me.
