Poppy

I ended up falling asleep after my bath, and didn't wake up until Elijah had come home to change, meaning I missed tea.

He gave me a smile as I began to wake up, then I held my arm out and he hugged me.

"Sleepy head,"

"Hungry head,"

"Oh really?" he laughed, "Me too. Shall I go and make some rice for us to have some tea?"

"Ask mum if I can have rice,"

"I will. Sorry I woke you,"

"It's okay,"

I grabbed my crutches and followed him out the room, sitting beside Jasper on the sofa. He welcomed me into his hold and then smoothed out my hair that had been messed up.

"You missed tea time!" Lauren said, sitting on mum's lap.

"Sorry,"

"Poppy was a bit sleepy because I gave her some medicine whilst helping her with an annoying wobbly tooth,"

"Why was it annoying? Wobbly teeth are fun,"

"It hurt," I mumbled, "But not anymore,"

"You can fix hurting teeth?" Lauren asked.

"I can,"

"Fix mine! Fix mine!"

"Do you have hurting teeth?"

"Yes. Fix them mummy. Now,"

"Well I can't do it now, but you can come tomorrow afternoon so I can have a look,"

She seemed very excited about it, which was strange because it was not fun. Jasper said she had been before as well, so she knew it was not fun.

"Okay. I am so happy it's summer! School is hard,"

"You have done so well at school!" Jasper said, "Why don't I take you upstairs and we can play with dollies?"

"Okay,"

They left and I shuffled up to mum, laying down so my head was on her lap.

"How are you feeling?"

"Okay. Sorry if I was bad,"

"You weren't bad, and I am glad you feel okay. Is Elijah making you both some food?"

"Yeah. Where is everyone else?"

"In the pool with dad,"

"Oh,"

"You can go in after tea if you'd like. It's not really a swimming pool, it's just to sit in and Lauren has some toy boats,"

"No thank you. I don't know want to wear a bathing suit,"

"You can wear a t-shirt over if you'd like,"

"No,"

"Okay. Are you excited to see your friends tomorrow?"

"Yeah, I an really excited. They're having a sleepover,"

"Are you invited?"

"Yeah, but I don't think I will do that yet. They said they have lots of sleepovers, though. Maybe one time,"

"I think that's the sensible thing to do,"

"Poppy!"

Elijah called me to have tea, so she gave me a tight hug and let me go to the table where he sat with two glasses of water, and two plates of food.
