The Haunting of Forest Lane

Chapter Two

The next morning Camden was the first one awake. While still in her pajamas she brushed her teeth and headed downstairs to the kitchen to start making breakfast.

She thought it would be a nice gesture to make breakfast for everyone especially Amani, after the events that happened the previous evening. Even though Camden was not a morning person she was extra cheerful that morning when her roommates came downstairs after smelling the delicious food that was cooking.

Lauren was the first one to come downstairs and she wrapped her arms around her girlfriend's waist.

"I'm used to me being the chef between all of us. What's the special occasion baby?"

Camden smiled "I am just so excited that we have this house, and we won't have to live with roommates in college dorms or in our toxic households, and I love Mani so much I made this to hopefully make up for what I said last night. She loves food just as much as I do, so I figured this would cheer her up a bit."

Camden was finishing up the chocolate chip pancakes when Danielle entered the kitchen.

"Lauren is that you cooking? It smells amazing I'm starving" she yelled practically drooling.

Lauren sat down on the couch with her feet on the coffee table "Nope! It's not me this time."

Camden turned around with a plate full of pancakes in one hand and a spatula in the other. "I find it quite offensive that you think I can't cook."

"Wow Camden I didn't even I didn't know you cook like this. A perk of dating a chef I suppose."

She raced toward the table and started filling her plate with bacon and pancakes.

Ally was next to come downstairs, "Do I smell chef Lauren's famous breakfast?"

Camden rolled her eyes and looked over at Lauren who laughed "no it wasn't me."

Ally looked at Danielle who was already halfway through her food "Dani was it you?"

Camden put her hands on her hips and glared in Ally's direction.

"No, it was Camden, and I must say these are way better than Lauren's pancakes" Dani said before taking another bite.

"for me. Now you can go bother Camden when you all are hungry."

Lauren kissed Camden's cheek, "Goodluck making breakfast, lunch and dinner for Dani babe."

Ally looked over to Camden and smiled "God is really good if he can get you out of bed and actually make breakfast."

Lauren and Danielle laughed at Ally's comment and took a seat there new dining room table and began eating.

Midway through one of her pancakes Danielle stopped and asked "wait, I don't bother you about cooking do I?" A defensive look appeared in her eyes.

Lauren laughed and shook her head dismissing her question.

The rest of breakfast was uneventful. Camden began putting all the dirty dishes in the sink and joined her friends and girlfriend in the living room.

"Guys I'm worried about Amani, she hasn't come downstairs yet."

They all looked at the empty seat on the loveseat next to Danielle, "don't worry she will. She loves breakfast, plus I didn't eat everything. I left some for her."

They waited another 45 minutes for Amani to come downstairs she never did, so they started watching squid games on Netflix.

"I don't understand this show, or why you like it so much. They're just playing red light, green light. It's like when you all were obsessed with Bad Girls Club, the show where they would all fight one another while drunk" Ally stated.
