Lauren was standing by Danielle's room and she saw MJ exit her room with a smile on her face. Lauren didn't like that smile and decided to confront her.
"MJ I need to talk to you."
MJ was confused but followed Lauren into an empty hallway.
"What's up Lauren, are you okay?"
"Listen, I know you were Amani's doctor and you took care of her, here and at home but Danielle is not a good place right now. Her wife literally just died and you went through this with Elizabeth, and Dani loved Amani more than anything. I told you what happened so you would know, I don't know why you came to see her but she doesn't need anyone in her life romantically right now."
MJ took a step back, "woah Lauren, you can't possibly think I like her like that. Yes Amani was one of my patients, you guys are like family to me. I watch new moms struggle all the time and I just wanted to offer some help if she needed it. We're all friends here and nothing more. I wanted her to know that Amaya needs a mother, and she understands this. Danielle is the most down to earth person I've met in a long time, but I understand what she's going through, I wanted her to know she's not alone and yes I've been through this exact situation when Ellie died, and I wanted to tell her about my experiences to connect with her, to know that she can overcome this Lauren, it'll be hard but she has all of us."
Lauren wanted to believe that more than anything, but she could just tell in her eyes that she liked Danielle, and it was more than a friendship. She just didn't want to admit that right now, but she knew.
Danielle's 48 hour psych hold went as planned, and after being evaluated she was deemed stable, but required therapy two times a week until farther notice and has been prescribed depression medication. She apologized profusely to Camden and Lauren and the doctors who were treating her when she came in. Her friends listed her spirits by showing her pictures of Amaya and brought her food from McDonalds and by the end of the hold she was smiling and even laughed a few times.
After she was released Lauren took Danielle and Camden home and Danielle went right up to Amaya's room. Amani had placed pictures in the room and had put them on the floor to be hung after the nursery was painted. There was one empty frame. Danielle went into Amani's room for the first time since she had passed away. Her body tensed up but on her nightstand was the prom photo of her hugging Amani after her date ditched her.
She took the picture out of the frame and put into the new frame and put it on the end table in Amaya's room so she could see how happy her moms were together, and so her memory would never fade for her daughter.
Camden spent the afternoon and evening with Danielle, they were in her room when something fell in the closet. Camden was scared but she went over to pick up whatever had fallen. When she opened the door she saw something unexpected.
Amani was standing right in front of her.
"Camden, please don't scream."
Camden stood there in disbelief. She couldn't scream even if she wanted to she was to dumbfounded by the event occurring. Amani was standing in Danielle's closet and staring right at her, she had seen spirits before but never of someone she personally knew.
Amani stepped out of the closet and Camden cautiously stepped back.
"Well I'm out of the closet now" Amani giggled nervously.
Danielle saw Camden standing frozen, she got up and led her back to where she was sitting.
"What's Wrong?"
"T-that's Amani."
Amani proceeded to walk closer to Camden.
"You're right, It's me Amani. I'm not going to hurt you, you know this, I would never hurt you. I'm a protector of the house just like Elizabeth, and Cassidy are. I want to make sure you guys are safe."
