The Haunting of Forest Lane

Chapter Eight

Lauren woke up around 7am that morning, she noticed Camden wasn't in bed with her. She went down to the bathroom, no Camden. She walked downstairs to the living room and the kitchen, no Camden. She ran up to Danielle's room thinking something may have scared her and she ended up in there, when she opened the door though Camden wasn't there she began to panic. She ran into Amani's room and shook her and Danielle awake.

"Dani, Mani, I can't find Camden!"

They both jumped up out of bed.

"What do you mean you can't find Camden" Danielle questioned.

"She's nowhere in the house."

They all three ran into Ally's room.

"Ally have you seen Camden?"

She rubbed her eyes to see her friends all with a terrified expression across their faces.

"No, I haven't seen her."

"Shit," Danielle said aloud.

For the next couple minutes the girls were searching the house high and low looking for any trace of Camden. When they couldn't find her they thought maybe her mom or dad came to get her because something scared her. She wouldn't have driven Lauren's jaguar without her permission and she definitely wouldn't have driven her own car she hated driving it. Lauren called Camden's mom immediately.

"Lauren is everything okay, you never call this early."

"Hi Nancy, I was just wondering did you guys come and get Camden last night? We went to bed and she was with me, now we can't find her."

"No honey she didn't come home, but me, Andre and her sister will be right over."

When the call ended Lauren sat down and started to cry. Amani put her arm around her.

"It's gonna be okay honey I promise, we're gonna find her."

Lauren looked over to her left and there was a toy sword laying there, she picked up to observe it. She had never seen it before.

"Guys is this any of yours? I've never seen this before."

They all looked confused and shook their heads no. Lauren looked up and saw a tube of lipstick rolling towards her. They noticed it was Camden's as soon as it was close. It was a bright red color everyone told her not to get.

"Stay here" Lauren said cautiously.

Lauren got up and picked up the lipstick tube and went into the bathroom downstairs, that's where Camden had been storing extra makeup. Elizabeth was there.

"Lauren, you need to know what's going on. Something evil has her. She's in the woods, and I don't think she's-"

Elizabeth disappeared she knew something was evil in the house now, close by. Lauren was grateful she at least has some insight on where her girlfriend was. Lauren heard the doorbell ring and knew it was Camden's parents she ran to get it.

"Check the woods" she told Amani and Danielle.

Camden's little sister Sophia jumped on Lauren as soon as she opened the door.

"Lauren!"

"Hi Sophie, will you go sit with Ally on the couch, I need to talk to your mama and papa about something important."

Sophia ran over to the couch not understanding what was going on, she was only 6. She embraced Ally in a huge hug. She put spongebob on and went towards the front door with her girlfriends parents.

"We've checked everywhere in the house, she has to be outside somewhere like the woods. She slipped her shoes on."

"Why would she go into the woods" Nancy questioned.
