The Haunting of Forest Lane

Chapter Twenty Seven

Ally, Danielle, Amani were in the car heading to the hospital as they could, without getting pulled over or in an accident themselves. Ally has already been in the hospital today and now two of their other friends. They didn't want to make it all 5 of them being admitted on the same day. They pulled into the parking lot and they all ran into the hospital. They were met with Camden and Lauren's mom and dad.

Amani ran into Lauren's moms arms, "are they okay?"

Lauren's mom took the girls and sat down, "the nurses have talked to Nancy and Andre, we just got here, Nancy told us that Camden was messing around with the gun cleaning it, and it went off, it was accidental. Nick is talking to the police right now. We also were told Lauren was shot in the stomach, and Camden was shot in the chest, she's having problems breathing, and keeping a blood pressure, and Lauren is screaming because she can't see Camden and she doesn't remember getting shot. So they're going to have to most likely sedate her and then get scans to make sure she didn't get shot in the liver or any of her intestines."

The girls held each other close, Lauren's mom paid most of her attention to Amani who was breathing heavily and shaking, "hey let's go walk."

Amani wiped her eyes and locked arms with Caroline, "I know this is stressful, I'm scared to death, but I'm trying to stay strong, they're alive. Lauren called me and told me you're pregnant. You're my 2nd daughter. You've been coming over to my house since pre school, and I've watched you grow up into a beautiful young woman,  and now I'm watching you on social media loving Danielle. You're growing a baby in your stomach and that's crazy to me, but it's also the greatest blessing. So try and keep your stress levels to a minimum. I know it's hard but that little baby doesn't understand and you don't need them being stressed either. It's not good for the baby. I will give you any update that I get if you're not here."

Amani was now emotional for a completely different reason, "she has to be okay! She's excited to be an aunt, auntie Lauren. You're pretty much going to be grandparents because you were more of a mom to me then my own mom was, they were too busy going on trips and business trips, it was always Sasha and I with babysitters or you guys. I can't imagine a life without Lauren, and since Camden came into my life, I can't imagine a life without her either. They have to be okay Caroline."

"I know honey, and just pray, Ally will pray, we can pray with her, and like I said they're alive, and this is the best hospital in Miami, so they're doing everything they can, they've taken care of them before."

Caroline took Amani back to the group in the waiting room when a familiar face came into the waiting room. She was wearing a scrub cap and she took it off everybody knew who it was, Danielle jumped up and hugged the woman they all knew, "MJ!"

She nodded, "Hey, I'm on Lauren's case. I'm the doctor In charge, they needed all hands on deck so I'm taking care of her, I have an update, she's stable. We took her down to CT, and her scans were great. The bullet missed all of her vital organs but it did hit her spleen. We went ahead and removed it, it was a quick surgery and she's in the ICU recovering. We had to give her 12 stitches in her stomach, the bullet is still inside of her, but it's not doing any harm there, it would have done more harm to have removed it because she's wedged close to her spine. She had feelings in all of extremities and removing the bullet could paralyze her. She's pretty drugged on pain pills after the surgery, she doesn't remember getting shot but she remembers Camden getting hurt so we have her on a high dose of pain medicine and she's sleeping right now. She will need physical therapy when she's ready because this is a really odd spot in her stomach and she's going to be feeling it for quite some time. She will be here for a few weeks I would say but hopefully she gets discharged before Christmas. I went ahead and got an update on Camden too. She's in surgery, she has a collapsed lung, and they went ahead and put in a chest tube and some internal bleeding and they're trying to find the source of that now.  The bullet is close to her heart so they  might not be able to remove hers either, but sometimes it's better that way. Lauren can have immediate family in her room, and we will let you know when Camden is out of surgery, or when I have the next update."
