Danielle got home from the hospital and met Camden who was watching TV. As soon as Camden made eye contact with her, Danielle broke down. Lauren and Camden hugged her tightly.
"Laur, I didn't tell you in the car, but her body isn't responding to the antibiotic, and she's going to die. She told me that she knows she's not going to be here to raise her daughter and I don't know how to live without her."
Lauren hugged her tighter, "Dani, don't think like that. Amani is unpredictable, who knows she might pull through this and all three of you will be dancing around the kitchen while I cook the best pancakes. How is Amaya?"
Danielle gave her a little smile as she thought of her daughter, "She's precious. I love her. I touched her little hands and her arm, she grabbed my finger, I've never loved someone so much in my entire life as I love Amaya."
Camden giggled, "I can't wait to meet her. We're going to have the best adventures. I'm going to teach her how to jump on the trampoline and how to jump out and scare Lauren. I'm going to make her fall in love with Finding Nemo, and I guess Finding Dory too. When nobody else wants to get ice cream at midnight I'll take her in pajamas just so she can hang out with Aunt Camzi."
Danielle rolled her eyes, "You two are going to be inseparable aren't you?"
Camden blushed, and she smiled, "If it's anything like the way I was with Sophie when she was born, then yes."
Danielle hugged both of her friends, "thank you both I needed that. I'm going to my bed to try and sleep, I want to get to the hospital early in the morning. I love you both."
They gave her one last hug and she made her upstairs. She went up to her bedroom and the bedroom was just as she left it the night Amani woke up coughing and in early stages of labor. Amani's pillow was half way on hers, and her blanket was on the floor, she got hot during the night and tossed it on the floor. Danielle found Lauren's purple blanket in her bed too. Amani must've stolen it again. She rolled her eyes playfully when she saw it. She balled the blanket up and rested her head on it, it smelled like Amani's Peach shampoo. She missed her. She looked at her girlfriends nightstand, it had a parenting book on it, she was on chapter 3 out of 15, and a picture of the two at the beach a few weeks before they moved in. She picked the picture up and cried. They looked so happy and had no idea how much their lives would be changing in just a few short months.
"It's not fair! You're taller than me of course you're going to be faster, how do you even run that fast in sand?"
Danielle rolled her eyes, "I'm not that much taller, and I just remember how hot the sand is and it makes me run faster."
Amani playfully hit Danielle's arm. "You're so annoying."
Ally ran up and tackled Danielle to the ground, "Ha! Got you!"
"Ally what the fuck was that for?"
"Oh come on! I always jump on your back, and anyway Camden and Lauren are sharing way too much PDA, I figured I'd come hang out with the single girls, we have to stick together."
Amani nodded, "preach that. I'm not dating anymore. Men are fucking gross and mean, plus all they want to do is have sex and touch my boobs and ass like maybe I just want to actually watch a movie and grab dinner but somehow the guy always ends up in my pants I'm over it!"
Ally looked at Danielle, "what's your reasoning?"
"Oh for not dating? I don't know I guess I just don't have anyone that appeals to me. I like being single plus we're moving into our own house soon and we will be able to hang out all the time, and since we're starting college soon maybe I'll meet someone there who knows?"
